Knežević and Milačić submitted a bill on amendments to "Zeta laws"

It is requested that the eastern part of the cadastral municipality of Dajbaba belongs to the newly formed municipality of Zeta, and that the implementation of these laws be postponed for 30 days after the publication of the final results of the elections for the first subsequent convocation of the Assembly of the Capital City of Podgorica.

Member of Parliament and leader of the Democratic People's Party Milan Knežević and Member of Parliament and leader of the Right of Montenegro Marko Milačić submitted a draft law on amendments to the "Zeta Laws" to the parliamentary procedure today.

As stated in the statement of the Right of Montenegro, the amendments request that the eastern part of the cadastral municipality of Dajbaba belongs to the newly formed municipality of Zeta, and that the application of these laws be postponed for 30 days after the publication of the final results of the elections for the first subsequent convocation of the Assembly of the Capital City of Podgorica.

"Namely, the adopted amendments to the Law on Territorial Organization will affect the territorial unit of the Capital City of Podgorica, i.e. directly on the acquired right of citizens of all existing territories of the Capital City of Podgorica to vote and be elected. The Constitution of Montenegro and the Law on the Election of Councilors and Members of Parliament , stipulate that elections for the convocation of local self-government assemblies are held no later than every four years, and that deadline has expired, i.e. the elections were legally scheduled and had to be held already, with which the citizens of the territory of Zeta acquired the right to vote for the upcoming convocation of the Assembly of the Capital City. The electoral right of the citizens of Zeta would be taken away against the Constitution and the legal order of Montenegro if the proposed changes are not adopted," the announcement reads.

As they state, "this is precisely why it was proposed to postpone the implementation of these laws 30 days after the publication of the final election results for the first subsequent convocation of the Assembly of the Capital City of Podgorica, so that all citizens with the right to vote for the upcoming local elections for the Assembly of the Capital City, who have acquired that right under the Constitution and the legal order of Montenegro, including the people of Zeć, without discrimination and violation of the basic democratic rights to vote and be elected, could vote in the elections in Podgorica".

"At a time when the entire Montenegrin public is expecting a solution to the deep socio-political crisis, all actors of political life must count on the express correction of the injustice done to the citizens of Zeta by passing anti-Zeta laws," said Knežević.

Milačić added that without the proposed changes adopted today, "there is no question of legal order in Podgorica and Montenegro."

"Because the elementary constitutional right of the citizens of one part of Podgorica to vote and be elected has been trampled upon. These changes protect the Constitution of Montenegro, as well as the dignity of every citizen of Zeta, Podgorica, and Montenegro," said Milačić.
