Minister of Foreign Affairs Ranko Krivokapić participated online in the 11th session of the Korcula School, which is a Think Tank platform where leaders, in Southeast Europe and beyond, discuss the political, economic, social and cultural aspects of gender equality in the broader context of social democracy and progressive politics.
As announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the session entitled "European integration, the crisis in Ukraine and regional trends - political and geostrategic discussion", at which the head of diplomacy of Slovenia, Tanja Fajon, and the president of the Foundation for European Progressive Studies, Marija Rodriguez, spoke. as well as the former defense minister of North Macedonia, Radmila Šekerinska, Krivokapić pointed out that in the midst of the war in Ukraine, the Western Balkans, as the "soft stomach" of Europe, is even more exposed to the influence of enemy countries.
In this context, it is stated, Krivokapić stressed the importance of the integration of the Western Balkans as quickly as possible, but with full awareness that in this area the EU must also have the courage to make a step forward.
Pointing out that in times like these, there can be no great politics without great risk, Krivokapić assessed that with such an approach and with a good assessment, the EU can contribute to the stabilization of the Western Balkans.
"Minister Krivokapić emphasized that the Western Balkans needs a proposal for a Criminal Code as it exists in the EU, in order to more easily fight together against the strengthening of organized crime, which represents a key weakness, through which further destabilization of the Region takes place. Along these lines, Krivokapić emphasized the need to be wise in order to improve our alliance and thus make the EU more capable of facing new challenges," the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs concluded.
