President of Montenegro and leader of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) Milo Djukanovic with his last public appearance, through the well-known narrative about the defense of the state and state interests, he started the election campaign and tried to homogenize the electorate and strengthen his own political ranks.
That is how the deputies in the Assembly evaluated the harsh messages of Đukanović, which he sent from the City Television, when, among other things, he said that he had no information about the alleged preparation of the rebellion after the 2020 elections and that otherwise everyone would have been arrested, if the government Dritan Abazović i Zdravka Krivokapića were "absolutely uncommitted to the national interests" of Montenegro, that Abazović's government promoted crime to the top of the security system, and by signing the Basic Treaty committed "the gravest treason since 1918 until today", that it will be remembered for its brutal attacks on the media and freedom of speech.
"The open announcement of the radicalization of political circumstances, the insistence on outdated rhetoric confirms Đukanović's captivity in politically outdated times in which he was the master of life and death in his private state. Failure to accept reality is not solely motivated by the desire to preserve power and privilege. It is a mess of bad political perception, a lost sense of political trends and fear of the rule of law and free institutions," says the representative of the Democratic People's Party and former president of the Administrative Committee of the Assembly Milun Zogović.
In the interview, Đukanović disparaged ministers, especially the Minister of the Interior, accused political opponents of ill will and accused the Serbian Orthodox Church of being a "paramilitary formation."
The speech of the president of the state and the leader of the DPS on City Television came at a time when part of the media is openly agitating for the policy promoted by the DPS and its political allies, and they are running a brutal campaign against Abazović. It was particularly intensified after the Prime Minister publicly expressed his suspicions about who is behind organized cigarette smuggling, citing certain companies, politicians and individuals.
Former Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapić he reacted yesterday and, among other things, told Đukanović that in Montenegro he will remain a synonym for "destruction of social goods, personal selfishness, quarreling between fraternal people and changeable ideology".
Head of the Club of Members of Parliament "Black on White" Milos Konatar says that Đukanović has shown again that he is a politician who is trapped in the past and it is clear, he says, that he cannot lead Montenegro into the European future.
"Even after all these years, he did not manage to come up with anything new, no new offer to present, but to try to turn the wheel back to 1918. Defending independence again, even though it is unquestionable. Again the Church of Serbia, again traitors. He returned to the outmoded rhetoric and nationalist political offer, and Montenegro needs the exact opposite, to work on reconciliation and build a tolerant, democratic and European society," says Konatar, whose party cohabited with the DPS until recently.
The narrative is mostly known
MP of the Movement for Change Nikola Bajcetic, who was in prison during the mandate of the DPS government, assessed that the messages sent by Đukanović represent the last cry of a defeated policy, "which has long been overcome, which is clearly shown through the electoral processes, where this party is constantly declining." .
He told Vijesti that, in this way, Đukanović started the election campaign, and that the narrative is "mostly known":
"With the story of the defense of the state and state interests, we should suppress the story of organized crime and corruption, including the gangs that ravaged Montenegro by abusing their political positions, and whose predecessor was Đukanović."
Bajčetić said that for this reason "these are the desperate cries and calls for the mobilization of all those who care about Montenegro":
"And that from the last line of defense of Đukanović's Montenegro - Gradska TV. That television, in which 2,5 million euros were invested and financed by all the citizens of the Capital City, and which today is trying to preserve the "acquisitions" of organized crime and corruption that arose during the three-decade rule of the DPS", said the deputy.
It is clear that the defenders of the assets of the DPS, which we often see these days in the Special State Prosecutor's Office and some in ZIKSU, have been dealt a blow and that their interests are now threatened.
This, as he assessed, should be an incentive for the old parliamentary majority from 2020, to reach an agreement as soon as possible, and continue dealing with criminals, and unblock institutions, depoliticize and strengthen them, so that Montenegro "stands up after the fall of the rotten regime DPS".
A platform of hatred towards part of the citizens
DNP MP Milun Zogović said that sending poisoned arrows is the only political message when open hatred remains the only argument: "The last European dictator is doing it cunningly, calculating that it is possible to fabricate another round of fraternal and neighborly divisions that would bring him political success."
He pointed out to Vijesti that the level of moral degradation becomes even more visible "when the grandmaster of all ideological and national betrayals talks about betrayal and delegates traitorous titles hoping that some others would do what he is unsurpassed in".
"The difficult clinical picture was regularly complemented by the mention of the Holy SPC in Đukanović's own way, according to the folk saying "like a man, like a sermon". "Unfortunately, he announced this rhetoric and hatred towards the dominant majority of the citizens of the country whose president was running as a political platform of the coalition that he will lead into a political battle that has already been lost," said Zogović.
Member of the Socialist People's Party (SNP) Dragan Vukic he said that Đukanović tried "as the supreme leader of the DPS" to homogenize the electorate by attacking the largest religious organization by saying that what the government did by signing the fundamental contract with the SPC was the biggest betrayal of Montenegro since 1918.
"With that message, he is once again sending the message that he is not for peace in Montenegro, but that he wants to continue ruling on divisions. This is not good, and as president he should protect the institutions of the president because he represents all citizens and should protect their interests. With this rhetoric, he is leading a direct campaign against the believers of the Serbian Orthodox Church", said Vukić to "Vijesta".
He believes that DPS, as he states, lost its political compass a long time ago and wanders in political events. "Every time he makes a wrong step that further collapses him, but that is desirable for the political scene of Montenegro, because they have sufficiently disrupted the political stability in Montenegro," said the SNP deputy.
Zogović: More and more of Đukanović's associates are the subject of judicial processes
Milun Zogović said that while more and more of Đukanović's closest associates and intimates are the subject of judicial processes, he is intensifying his quarrelsome rhetoric with which, he says, he wants to strengthen his own political ranks. "There are fewer and fewer people in his party who will sacrifice their political and personal destiny in defense of a private court, nor accept serving someone else's sentences," adds the DNP deputy.
Đukanović unequivocally confirmed that he should leave the political scene, and with him this rhetoric of hatred and division that has kept Montenegro captive for almost three decades, preventing social and state progress. It would also be an ideal opportunity for him to do something good for Montenegro, which he often mentions, unfortunately, as property and not as his homeland," said Zogović.
Radunović: Elections in Podgorica for DPS leader as "Battle for Stalingrad"
"Milo Đukanović is trying to motivate his disoriented army, which is experiencing defeats, now already in series, one last time. He is throwing all his cards at the elections in Podgorica, where he is gathering an extremist coalition, which he hopes will be able to delay his certain political end with the election results and briefly protect him and his closest associates from the expected prosecution. Based on his performance, I would say that he considers the elections in Podgorica to be a "Battle for Stalingrad" and that he and his mafia friends are ready to do anything to win," Slaven Radunović, head of the Club of Deputies of the New Serbian Democracy, told Vijestima.
Elections in Podgorica and 13 municipalities are on October 23, and Đukanović announced a "civic coalition" that would include the traditional allies of DPS and the May 21 movement.
The election of a new government, by the winners of the last parliamentary elections, would destroy, as Radunović said, the last glimmer of hope for the "extremists gathered around Đukanović".
"That's why negotiators have an additional motive and obligation to reach an agreement. The agreement is the best way for the main generator of division, hatred, injustice and robbery in Montenegro to no longer be seen in important positions in the country, but to start packing for moving to a facility where a large number of his friends are already waiting for him", concludes the Nova official.
