One of the leaders of the Democratic Front (DF), Andrija Mandić, said tonight that the representatives of that alliance, at the end of the new meeting of the parties of the former parliamentary majority, stated that all possibilities of reaching an agreement "in this broad composition" on solving the political crisis have been exhausted.
This, as he clarified, means that he will invite party leaders who have not yet participated in the negotiations to another meeting.
The "old majority" meetings were not attended by the presidents of the Democrats and Citizens' Movement (GP) URA, Aleksa Bečić and Dritan Abazović.
"Today we had two proposals - the DF nominated me for the position of prime minister, and my colleagues from the GP URA Abazović. The democrats refused to nominate anyone, and today they simply decided in relation to the proposed candidates. The DF candidate has the support of the structures which number 28 deputies, and the GP URA candidate nine. The deputies of the Socialist People's Party (SNP) conditionally supported both candidates. We held additional consultations and said that we are ready to give up the position of prime minister, but to reach an agreement that 41 deputies constitute the government on the goals we agreed on," said Mandić at a press conference in the Assembly after the meeting.
He said that the agreement, despite the DF's refusal to let him be the mandate holder, was not reached.
"Then we had a proposal from the leader of Prava Montenegro, Marko Milačić, that the president of Demos, Miodrag Lekić, be the representative. However, they rejected that proposal as well... We will try to reach an agreement at that new meeting - to which we will invite all party presidents," he said. said Mandić, adding that a possible agreement must be reached as soon as possible because the president of the country, Milo Đukanović, has scheduled consultations with the parties on the new mandate for Thursday.
Mandić said that no one's ambition should be above the agreement of the "old majority", because, as he stated, DPS wants to return to the place of "autocratic management".
"I don't want to point out any ugly details, but I have an obligation to emphasize that despite the two-thirds support, the DF was ready to offer the seat of the mandate on the altar of agreement. We will try to make the citizens happy with an agreement at that meeting," he pointed out.
Mandić said that all proposals that lead to a compromise are acceptable to the DF.
"I had the feeling that today we showed the greatest breadth. And everyone wants an agreement. We need to jump one more step and everything falls into place. We need a little bit, and that's why we estimated that it is necessary for the first people of the parties to sit down. There were also bad words, but we are obliged to resolve misunderstandings. The meeting will be scheduled before Thursday. I would like it to be tomorrow, but that does not depend on me," he added.
He emphasizes that he believes that an agreement will be reached.
"Everyone is aware of their responsibility. It will be of little use if we blame each other. If others also want an agreement, it will be reached," he stated.
Mandić said that some other names were also mentioned as candidates for the mandate, but that the agreement was, as he said, not to be framed in other parties.
