The Government of Montenegro projected an additional million euros for the activity of the census of population, households and apartments in the Budget Rebalancing Proposal, which is why it is obliged to announce to the general public whether it intends to actually carry out the census by the end of this year and in what exact time period, it was announced today from Actions for Social Justice (ASP).
"This is particularly important considering not only that Dritan Abazović's government is in a technical mandate, because it lost support in parliament, but also the current election campaign for local elections in a large number of Montenegrin cities at the end of October, and with possible general elections in When the conditions of extreme overall political and economic crisis in the country are added, the minority technical government is obliged to disclose to the public when it intends to conduct the population census - whether next month, when there are local elections in the country, in November or December, when the conditions for carrying out the census due to the winter period will certainly be more difficult," the ASP press release points out.
From that non-governmental organization (NGO), they added that from a legal, but also a political point of view, the very intention of the government, which is in a technical mandate, to conduct a census of the population, households and apartments seems extremely unreasonable.
"The government has projected the following for the spending unit, the Administration for Statistics (Monstat), with the budget rebalancing proposal: within the framework of the National Statistics program, the Statistical Research, Analysis and Information subprogram, the activity Census of Population, Households and Apartments, additional funds in the amount of 1.026.676 euros have been allocated in order to provide the missing funds for the Population Census activity. As it is explained, the increase is conditioned by the growth of the minimum labor price, the average wage in Montenegro and the inflation rate. In the previous Budget for this year, the total expenditures of the Directorate for Statistics were at the level of 4,64, EUR 5,67 million, and the budget rebalancing proposal will increase it to EUR XNUMX million," ASP said.
