Montenegro must finally, after two years, get a responsible government again, which will be dedicated to Montenegro, and not to the interests of others, said the leader of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) Milo Đukanović in Rožaje.
He said that "Greater Serbian nationalists" tried to replace Montenegro with Montenegro - a theocratic state.
Yesterday, in preparation for the local elections, the initial convention of the electoral list "PRAVA STVAR, Za bolje život Rožaja - DPS, SD, SDP, LP" was held in Rožaj, where the candidates for councilors were presented.
Đukanović, as reported by the DPS, emphasized the importance of the upcoming local elections, where, as he said, we should choose "those we believe" can contribute to the development of Rožaj and the achievement of the life and family goals of everyone in that area. He added, as stated, that the time when the DPS was the backbone of the state power in Montenegro was a time of stability, preserved peace, strengthened inter-religious and inter-ethnic harmony.
"That was the time of Montenegro's economic and democratic prosperity, in which we established the economic and thus the national dignity of Montenegro, which for the first time in history we said we do not need subsidies, we do not need funds for underdeveloped areas, we will live from our work and we live from our work. That was the time when we saved Montenegro as part of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia from the bombing of the NATO alliance, that was the time when we restored independence in a democratic way, without threatening stability, and when we introduced Montenegro into NATO. That was the time when we brought Montenegro to the position of a leader country in the negotiation process with the EU and brought it to a position from which it is completely clear that it will be the first next member of the EU. And Montenegro, which was one of the less developed republics of ex-Yugoslavia, reached the position of the most developed economy in that period," said Đukanović.
He said that the "Greater Serbian nationalists" understood the victory in the 2020 elections as "an open door for a new annexation" of Montenegro, that they tried to reshape Montenegro and to "replace the Montenegrin civil state with Montenegro, as they say, Serbian state".
"They tried to replace the secular state of Montenegro with the theocratic state of Montenegro, to replace the multi-religious state of Montenegro with a state in which one religious community will have a monopoly in Montenegro. They tried to take Montenegro out of the NATO alliance, they tried to stop Montenegro on the European path, they tried to make Montenegro quarrel with its neighbors. They didn't succeed in any of that, in anything... Not because they didn't try, they tried, they worked hard... But they didn't succeed in that. Why? Because there was a permanent barrier to that, which was the Democratic Party of Socialists together with its coalition partners. We have shown that you can fight for the right values even when you are the opposition, not only when you are the government, if you have a strong faith that you are on the right path and if you have faith that the values you stand for are the right ones and that you should fight for them" , stated Đukanović.
He said, as reported, that Montenegro had been waiting for a hundred years for the opportunity to regain its independence, and that for a hundred years some generations of people lived and died with that longing.
"Our generation has been given a share and it has been our responsibility and honor to do it and we will not allow anyone to gamble with it. That's why I think it's time for a decisive change, it's time to stop the deterioration of Montenegro, it's time to stop the non-domestic management of Montenegro. Montenegro must finally, after two years, get a responsible government again. So, a government that will be competent to deal with state affairs and that will be focused on what are the most important national interests of Montenegro, that will be dedicated to Montenegro and not to the interests of others. In order to reach that government, we have to have elections", said Đukanović.
He also stated that the DPS is not prone to any overcompositions and any political engineering.
"We respect that the citizens did not give us enough support on August 30, 2020, we want new elections to get more support and to show that we are able to continue leading this country on the path of prosperity and European development. I am convinced that the only good formula, the only good choice for Montenegro, is to stay on the civil track. If, by any chance, Montenegro strayed onto the other track and turned from a civil state into a community of national tories, that would be the end of Montenegro, I am absolutely sure of that. Therefore, a civil state is not the best choice for Montenegro, it is a condition for its survival and a condition for its duration. In order for Montenegro to be a civil state, it must have a strong core, that strong core is a strong civil party. With full respect for the tradition of our coalition with other civil parties, I tell you that at this stage of development of Montenegro, there is no civil state without a strong anchor of the civil party, which is the DPS", concluded Đukanović.
Ibrahim-Cakan Bećiragić expressed his satisfaction that he is at the head of the coalition list "THE REAL THING, For a better life in Rožaja - DPS, SD, SDP, LP".
"On the list are respectable and educated people, ready to make this city a better and richer place for all its citizens in alliance with the citizens. We are determined to give this city a great victory, as never before, on October 23." said Bećiragić.
The convention was also attended by DPS General Secretary Aleksandar Bogdanović, member of the Presidency and coordinator of that party for Rožaje Nikola Rakočević, coordinator in front of the DPS Executive Board Mihailo Andušić, representatives of the Social Democrats, the Social Democratic Party and the Liberal Party, membership and sympathizers of DPS from Rožaje , the announcement concludes.
