Rožaje is a strong example of peace and tolerance for current and future generations, a symbol of multi-ethnic and multi-religious harmony and coexistence, a municipality with a rich cultural and historical heritage, recognized as a city of painters and writers, said President of Democratic Montenegro Aleksa Bečić.
He congratulated the President of the Municipality of Rožaje Rahman Husović, the President of the Municipal Assembly Almir Avdić and the citizens on September 30, the Day of the Municipality of Rožaje.
"The name of your territorially small, but big soul and beauty municipality, became known all over the world, during the history that adorned you only with wonderful examples. The solidarity and sacrifice you showed in key moments of the often uncertain past, serves as an example not only in our the state, but also in the entire region," said Bečić.
As he adds, the name of Rožaja was "written in golden letters when you showed hospitality to both accidental and intentional guests, to the peoples who found salvation under the green Hajla and on the banks of the Ibar, in your homes".
"Rožaje has always skillfully and boldly raised its voice for justice and freedom, as evidenced by today's date. As a rare natural jewel, the city on the banks of the Ibar River, with its potential, contributes significantly to the development of the country, hence it is important to once again recognize and value those riches in the right way which are still not used enough," Bečić pointed out.
He said that it is certain that the implementation of important projects, "for which we strongly advocate", will mean the revival of the Municipality and enable this area to be recognized as a tourist center.
In the time ahead, Bečić adds that it is imperative to improve the standard of living of the citizens, but also to connect the city with the rest of Montenegro infrastructurally, and to create the conditions for the young people of Rožaja to direct their knowledge to the development of their region.
"I am convinced that together, inheriting European values, we will achieve the planned and desired goals, which are first of all - peace, stability and prosperity of Rožaje and Montenegro. With the hope that Rožaje will develop into an attractive tourist destination in the future, I congratulate you once again September 30, Rožaje Municipality Day," his congratulatory message concludes.
