The candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) for councilor on the list "The Real Thing - Zajedno Bar", Samir Škrijelj, said that in the past two years, the citizens of all of Montenegro could be convinced that a change of government in itself does not mean a positive political moment.
Both at the state level and in individual Montenegrin cities, he assessed, not only has there been no positive change, but with the change of government "a deep civilizational regression has taken place".
"That's how certain Montenegrin cities have turned from symbols of tourism into nationalist fairs, and some have turned from anti-fascist bastions into environments that don't go beyond celebrating collaborators of the occupiers," announced Škrijelj.
He pointed out that environments like Bar are rare, not only in the region, but in Europe and the world.
"A community that for centuries has been filled with the spirit of unity, multi-ethnicity, multi-religious harmony, patriotism and anti-fascism. I am firmly convinced that these are the values on which Bar rests firmly and that they cannot be questioned so easily. However, pulled back by the experience of other cities, no we can allow these values to be threatened and questioned in any way," Škrijelj said.
He assessed that the current local administration did its job responsibly.
"What is shown in the final is the percentage of realization of the program from the previous period in the amount of 95%, and the belief in victory is even stronger, bearing in mind that the list 'The Right Thing – Zajedno Bar' of the coalition of civil and pro-European parties DPS-SDP-LP convincingly represents all the positive sides of Bar that we are proud of. The list first of all gathers accomplished people in their fields, from business to sports to culture, but also a significant number of young people. I believe that it represents an easy choice for the citizens of Bar on October 23, and it is our obligation to continue to preserve the values on which Bar, and at the same time Montenegro, rests, and to continue to work responsibly and dedicatedly on the development and prosperity of our city", announced Škrijelj.
