One of the first moves of the new city government, which will be decisively influenced by the Sveto Sava Serbian List, will be the renaming of George Washington Boulevard in Podgorica, which will henceforth be called Svetoga Sava.
This was announced by councilor candidate and vice president of the Svetosavka City Committee in Podgorica, Radula Rade Bojović.
Bojović, as reported from Svetosavka, said that Saint Sava "is the saint who founded Serbian church autocephaly precisely on the territory of today's Montenegro."
"Montenegro is not a part of the NATO pact in spirit and social logic, regardless of the fact that representatives of the former regime pushed it into such a status, and those who belong to the new government structures have not taken qualitatively significant steps either," said Bojović.
For this reason, as he stated, the boulevards in Podgorica "belonging to various Americans" act more as marking the territory, than as a realistic reflection of the state of mind and friendly disposition of the local population.
He pointed out that Svetosavska respects all aspects of the democratic society built by the United States of America.
He adds that they also appreciate the contribution to the freedom of humanity during the Second World War when the civilized world fought against fascism "which swallowed up nations and states".
"Nevertheless, the fact that Saint Sava formed an independent Serbian Orthodox Church at a time when America did not even exist should also be evaluated. The range between Saint Sava's contribution to the church of the Serbian people and George Washington's contribution to the hegemony of the United States of America cannot be measured with the same dioptre, nor we Serbs are interested in the result of that parameter. We are Serbs and not Americans, and Montenegro is an ancient country, but it is not America. And, certainly, after the government depends on Svetosavka, Montenegro will also be outside the NATO pact," said Bojović.
