The upcoming extraordinary parliamentary elections will lead to political stabilization and the creation of a government that will competently continue reforms and lead Montenegro towards membership in the European Union (EU), announced the President of Montenegro, Milo Đukanović.
The Information Service of the President of Montenegro announced that Đukanović received letters of credence today from the newly appointed, extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassadors of Belgium - Cathy Bigenhaut, China - Fan Kun, Argentina - Osvald Narsis Marsik and the Republic of Korea - Djeung Lee.
The announcement adds that after the ceremony, Đukanović talked separately with the ambassadors, wished them a welcome, a successful mission and expressed his belief that during his mandate, the relations between Montenegro and their countries will gain content and new forms of cooperation.
"The President informed the ambassadors of the current political situation in the country with the expectation that the upcoming extraordinary parliamentary elections will lead to political stabilization and the creation of a government that will competently continue reforms and lead Montenegro towards EU membership. He pointed to the enormous potential for improving bilateral cooperation with each of the countries in the economic field, especially in the part of the implementation of large infrastructure projects in which Montenegro wants to develop a partnership with credible investors," the announcement reads.
The Information Service of the President of Montenegro stated that in the conversation with the ambassador of Belgium, the good tradition of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the intensification of political dialogue were welcomed, which will soon be confirmed by the official audience of the President of Montenegro with King Philippe of Belgium.
"Full agreement was reached on the importance of preserving European unity and the defense of the European value system, which is under attack in the conditions of aggression against Ukraine. The support for Montenegro's further path towards full membership in the EU was reiterated, with a clear recognition of the necessity of progress in improving the rule of law in the country and the struggle against corruption, and agreement on the importance of a stable administration that is able to absorb all important reform steps in conditions of political instability, important for fulfilling the conditions for achieving progress," the announcement reads.
With the ambassador of China, as further stated, the traditional friendship between Montenegro and China, enriched by the cooperation of the two countries over the past 15 years of diplomatic relations, was confirmed.
"Gratitude was reiterated for the absolute respect for the strategic choice of the development of Montenegro, its Euro-Atlantic course and the European path as a guarantee for the stability of the country and the region. Mutual satisfaction was expressed with the realization of the first section of the Bar-Boljara highway, as well as with the previous cooperation in the fields of railway infrastructure and energy , science and education. The ambassador conveyed President Si's warm greetings and reminded of the previous invitation to President Đukanović to officially visit China," said the Information Service of the President of Montenegro.
In the press release, it is written that in the conversation with the ambassador of Argentina, the contribution of the Montenegrin community to the strengthening of relations between the two countries was highlighted.
"The capacity of the Port of Bar as an entry point for Argentine products to the European market was jointly recognized, which, along with the implementation of the signed agreement on economic cooperation and the recent formation of a mixed commission, would contribute to more intensive economic communication between the two countries," it is stated.
The Information Service of the President of Montenegro said that during the meeting with the ambassador of the Republic of Korea, the strengthening of ties between NATO and the Republic of Korea, which resulted in the country's first participation in the recent NATO Summit in Madrid, was welcomed.
"The importance of NATO-Korea cooperation was highlighted as an extraordinary opportunity to promote the values on which the bilateral cooperation between Montenegro and Korea is based. Agreement was shared on the importance of preserving peace and stability on the Korean peninsula, as, among other things, an important contribution to global security," he concludes. in the announcement.
