The president of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) Milo Đukanović said that in the upcoming local elections one must say "no" and "forever 'no' to the betrayal of Montenegro".
The "Prava Thrasa, Zajedno Bar" list, consisting of DPS, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and the Liberal Party, was presented yesterday in Stari Bar.
"On the winner's list there are prominent names of the Bar from the fields of culture, science, sports, economy... Young people with great energy and experienced persons who, with their knowledge and reputation, represent the best personnel potential of the Bar", announced the DPS.
Đukanović emphasized the importance of the upcoming elections and said that, based on thirty years of experience in state politics, he knows that the citizens of Montenegro made smart decisions "whenever it was critical."
"They wisely decided in the 1999s to preserve peace and strengthen inter-ethnic harmony. They wisely decided not to enter the war in XNUMX. They wisely decided to make an intermediate step with Serbia through the Belgrade Agreement, when it was necessary to wait for the awareness within Montenegro to reach a victory in the referendum. They made a smart decision in the referendum, they made a smart decision by supporting us to become a member of NATO", said Đukanović.
The DPS leader, as reported, recalled the "very valuable investments" made in the previous period and said that these were successful results that were a recommendation and thanks to which the Montenegrin political public was trusted continuously for thirty years.
"A maritime cable worth one billion euros was passed to Italy, the first section of the highway worth one billion was built, Portonovi worth one billion was built, Porto Montenegro was built for around 700 million, etc... These figures would be impressive for any developed European country, let alone for the small and still underdeveloped Balkan Montenegro. Today, when we are on the eve of local elections in 14 local communities, willy-nilly we must see a clearly sharpened picture between the effects of two policies that exist in parallel in Montenegro. So, against these results of ours that I mentioned and against the no less valuable result that we, as the opposition, preserved a civil, secular and European Montenegro for these two years despite attacks from all sides and the most severe attack by the unfortunate Montenegrin governments, two years later after the change of government we are in a situation where general devastation is noticeable", said Đukanović.
He stated that, financially speaking, Montenegro is facing bankruptcy today.
"So, I assume that, like me, you saw that the projection after the additional debt that they plan for this year of 350 million, that they will borrow 650 million next year, 2024 million in 700 and 2025 billion in XNUMX," said Đukanović and stated that neither a much larger country nor a much more developed economy than Montenegro can endure this.
"What is catastrophic from this year's experience is that not a single cent from there goes to development projects, it all goes to bare consumption without any answer as to how these debts will be returned. The only realistic political conclusion is that it is being done by someone who is absolutely irresponsible, which I believe less, or someone who is doing it with bad intentions towards our country, to bring it to its knees in order to show that it is financially unable to service its obligations and that was presented to the public as an alternative proposal that the only way out is for Montenegro to renounce its statehood, to renounce its state house and to return to the embrace of 'great' Serbia".
He cited, as reported, "numerous arguments and examples" for such economic effects and said that "everything that was valuable on the Montenegrin economic map" was destroyed.
"From Montenegro Airlines to Amman on Sveti Stefan, to the closed production in the aluminum plant as our largest exporter, to the closed production in Željezara, to the closed production of the New Tobacco Plant, to the termination of all investments, especially the valuable ones that we worked on in previous years to the north, with the intention to use the potential of the north, to bring it out of its backwardness, to complete the Montenegrin tourist offer, so that our tourism is not of a seasonal nature, but a year-round tourism. So, when you look at the institutions, there is not a single institution that works," said the DPS president.
Đukanović concluded "that in these two years we faced a brutal betrayal" and a "brutal sale" of the state interests of Montenegro and said that "we must say 'No' in the elections, and forever 'no', to the betrayal of Montenegro".
The holder of the list Dušan Raičević pointed out that he is confident of victory on October 23, because, as he stated, this is also indicated by the attitude towards the citizens in the previous four-year period through "the most successfully implemented election program" so far, of over 93 percent, in which , among other things, there were "key projects of importance" for the overall development of Bar.
Candidates for councilors, Mladen Đuričić, Vladimir Božović, Marija Markoč, Vesna Drašković, Ammar Borančić, as well as athletes Tanja Bokan and Almir Cecunjanin spoke at the presentation of the list.
