The attitude towards Sutomore and the once famous Spič by the local self-government was mainly reduced to collecting income from the summer tourist season, said Valentina Minic, a candidate for councilor of the coalition "Let's go, people! Democratic, European, united for Bar" in the October 23 elections.
"Do you know that the local government in Sutomore has not built a single playground for more than 15 years," Minic asked in a statement from Democratic Montenegro.
He says that the first thing tourists notice when they come on vacation are the unbearable traffic jams, which is why most of them decide not to return to this tourist destination.
"The lack of use of the cultural heritage that Sutomore can offer is the pinnacle of carelessness by the local government. The Tabija and Haj Nehaj fortresses, which any country would be proud of, are absolutely neglected, unpromoted and undervalued. Almost no one takes care of them. What we particularly emphasize is the fact that there is no playground for the youngest, and the nearest park is in Bar," added Minic.
He states that an aqua park in the Sutomore area has been promised for many years.
"And we will start with a park for children. We will create a park and a playground for all generations, including fields for multiple sports," Minic pointed out.
He also says that he will plan to start revitalizing the Haj Nehaj fortress.
"We will illuminate it, restore the facilities within the fortress, mark the locations for cultural evenings and create all the necessary prerequisites for this building to become a cultural center. We will decorate Golo Brdo, build a path to the top, light it, install benches and other facilities that will accompany the ambiance and a special we will pay attention to security. Also, tabija must find its place in the rich cultural and tourist offer of Sutomore," says Minic.
She also states that she will improve the tourist season, expand the offer by introducing modern furniture for motorhomes and give Sutomore a new perspective.
"Sutomore must be a place that will be the pride of all Baranka and Baran, and not a place that the local rulers will look at as a cash cow from which they only take money," concluded Minic.
