The holder of the list of the movement "All for our city" and the mayor of Podgorica, Ivan Vuković, said, at tonight's mini-convention for the local communities of Nova Varoš, Gorica and Durrës, that he was proud that the center of the capital "never looked more beautiful".
He stated, among other things, that "despite the obstructions" an underground garage will be built under the main city square.
"The center of Podgorica and old Podgorica were for my colleagues and me every day more of an obligation to restore this part of the city to its old glory and to somehow prove ourselves to you, who have been here for generations and decades, who love this city and who have preserved its ghost. When we draw the line today, after a successful mandate, I think we have paid back most of that debt. I am proud that this part of Podgorica has never looked more beautiful. I am proud because I know how much work awaited us, how many challenges we faced and what the expectations of the people from the city center were. People who remember the days of the corso, the days of the old glory of the center of Titograd, then Podgorica, remember that atmosphere that at one point almost disappeared. When new neighborhoods began to be built, life, somehow, began to move out of the city center. And we had a big and difficult task ahead of us - to stop that trend, to reverse that trend and to make the center of Podgorica what every city center must be again," said Vuković.
Vuković, as reported, said that the city administration faced numerous difficulties in the past four years, and expressed satisfaction with "numerous successfully implemented projects". He recalled the reconstruction of Hercegovačka and Bokeška streets, "in a few days" and Njegoševa, the reconstruction of Vuk Karadžića street, the built promenade along Morača, the reconstructed Njegos park, also saying that the reconstructed Small Sports Stadium has once again become "a place of socializing and gathering". He also stated that the hill of Gorica was protected and the training ground on the hill was reconstructed, that Kuslev's house was reconstructed, a plateau was built in front of the "Savo Pejanović" school, a plateau and a park in front of the Gymnasium...
"Everywhere you look, you can see the new beauty of the city center and a reason for all of us to be proud of it," he pointed out.
Vuković said that "after we win on October 23" it can only get better. "We still have a lot of work that we don't forget," he said.
He stated that the tender for the reconstruction of Miljana Vukova Street is expected to be announced in a few days, and that the reconstruction of Balšić Street is planned for the next year, that the removal of the parking lot and the improvement of Balšić Square, the construction of an underground garage and a plateau with a multifunctional market facility are planned, since there used to be a market in that place. He also stated that it is planned to continue the construction of the promenade along Morača, and that, "despite the obstructions", an underground garage will be built under the main town square, in order to create the conditions for the city center to be completely closed to traffic, in order to obtain " a peaceful zone intended for all generations".
"I'm sure that I don't have to convince you of anything tonight, because every day we were in rehearsal and every day we tested your trust." I think we passed that exam, because you know that we were there, that we didn't run away from problems, and you know that we always accepted benevolent criticism and were grateful to those who criticize us benevolently, and that's why we achieved all these successes together," Vuković concluded. .
