Luka Liješević, the holder of the list of True Montenegro in Budva and a member of the local parliament, said that the development strategy of Budva over the past three decades has led to the fact that the city has nothing to do with the Mediterranean.
"Budva is a city that has endured all kinds of armies and flags, where the culture of various peoples and conquerors mingled. It has withstood time, various troubles and even disasters. Where most people were more hungry than full, when according to the surrounding tribes it was the usual curse: that God had settled in the old town (thinking that at noon there are only a couple of sardines caught that morning on the table). He who does not have at least a little sense of Budva like this in himself, cannot even set high-quality priority goals as a mayor." , Liješević said in an interview with Vijest.
When he said that the city has nothing to do with the Mediterranean, he explained that it is also in terms of architecture, but also in terms of the relationship to the coast (because this city no longer lives with the sea), in terms of the destruction of every smallest part of the surface for some personal gain. and defend it as if it had been "honorably acquired" for generations, despite the fact that it spoils the appearance of the city, not to mention the very reputation of the same.
"Everything that the invaders failed to do in 2.500 years in Budva was done by our fellow citizens with their greed and numerous inactions," Liješević pointed out.
According to him, the priority in Budva is the best possible valorization of our offer.
"While the offer is considered to be swimming and nightlife, which is the easiest to offer to a guest like the one we designed ourselves, in Budva a much higher quality offer is omitted. This is closely related to the tourist staff in Budva, where there are few who meet the standard of a serious destination or are the owners of private hotels and agencies recognize these staff and take great care of them," he says.
He states that the leaders of Budva tourism must have ideas about what they should offer to the guest from year to year.
"Budva is also an ancient city without a single feature about it. We must insist on that because this Budva lies on who knows how many Budva or Butu that are not talked about and which is completely in the dark and what nobody can impose on the tourists in Budva". Liješević said.
In addition, he says, there is a need to significantly set aside places for rest in Budva.
"Which, in my opinion, is the part around the old town that has resisted the invasion of the construction mafia as much as possible. The old town, the Mogren Hotel, the Porat, that is, everything that used to be called 'local community 1', that part of Budva should be protected from noise and aggressive contents like which are large stages and megaprojects. In the center in front of the old town, we should allow as many small stages as possible, and not all the time, on which the city's music and smaller bands would perform, which would fit into the ambience, and large programs and projects should be moved to a completely different end ( around the stadium, on the gap, etc.) and that's the only way you can guarantee the guest a vacation at least in that part of the city," he pointed out.
The old city should be added to the old town, he believes.
"This was suggested to me in one of the many conversations by a certain Jovica Maraš, who is the owner of the company Mar Montis from Split, and who participated in the construction of the port in Porto Montenegro, on Luštica and in all the ports in Croatia. As unimportant as this may seem to you now, I must to say that approximately the old port deserved to remove the yachts from the part in front of the old town and create a special part for them towards the Slovenska beach (of course the breakwater should be extended), and in the old part to remain small boats and a boat with a nice old look that would transport guests to go around the Montenegrin coast, and even to build a line from Budva to Dubrovnik and Split, as was the case in the past, and thus partially relieve road traffic," emphasized Liješević.
Now, as he states, it is forbidden for a fisherman to leave a net in the dock, let alone to clean it like before, it is forbidden for a man to leave a line in the net, it is forbidden for children to scrub on the sides, I am not sure yet if there are cats waiting to be let out boats throw something covered by this ban.
"Porat does not smell like the sea. Certainly, the capital projects for Budva are a hospital and a cultural center that would house a large and small theater stage. This is also part of the answer to the question often asked by guests from political parties, 'what to offer young people ". We all know that this is a new time when it is difficult for young people, and even their parents, to tear the mobile phone out of their hands, which unfortunately has united culture, sports and entertainment for the population. By building a theater or a cultural center where it will be where the theater is located, it is necessary to continuously provoke the awareness and idea of young people that the city offers them something else in which they can actively or passively participate," believes Liješević.
He adds that this is no hot water invention.
"We already had all this. We had a cultural center where the library was located (which is now in a completely different part of the city, and when the cultural center was sold as a big undertaking of the previous government, the books waited in the basement for more than a decade to be make a library), it was also a multi-functional hall where there was a cinema, where 'Moliere' was played, where there were gatherings, awards, there was a competition for the first voice of Budva when the youth competed in music, there was also a concert by Azra I mean in 83. We also had the premises of the old entertainment center where the folklore ensemble 'Kanjoš' was, there were also numerous instruments where the youth learned to play, and primarily to socialize. What have we turned into?", he emphasized. is he.
He added...
"Tourism is something that we all live from. We see that the new times have brought a new type of tourism and we need to adapt to it. In the past, fixed lease contracts were signed with the most serious tour operators (TUI, Neckerman, Yugotours Paris, London, Cosmos, Saga, Star Tour Fritidsresor, etc.) and the shifts of guests were in hotels for seven or 10 days. Today it is quite different, and domestic and foreign guests come by car and stay in the destination for a maximum of 3-5 days and insist on active tourism, and that is why it is necessary adapt to such a guest by providing him with parking and offering him as many local products as possible (gastronomic, cultural, historical) that will associate him with Budva", Liješević concluded.
