The holder of the list of the Coalition for the Future of Bar Maja Vukićević she announced that with the formation of a new government in that city, without the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), the local government would become transparent, and all citizens would get an equal chance to get a job in accordance with their qualifications and knowledge.
What problems in your city require the most urgent solution, and how, if you exercise power or participate in it, do you think they can be overcome?
There are numerous problems in Bar, starting with the poor traffic infrastructure on the territory of the entire Bar municipality, especially in rural areas, problems with water supply in several Bar settlements, economic activity in the city has almost died down, no new jobs are being created, young people are increasingly the inability to get a job leaves the Bar, there are really many problems at all levels. The potentials of Bar, of which there are many, were not used in a proper way, the city did not develop due to the careless attitude of the local administration, for which the narrow-party interests of the Democratic Party of Socialists were more important than the citizens of Bar. At the start of the campaign, I said that we will not promise something that cannot be achieved, but only what is realistic. I think that the numerous problems that exist in Bar could have been solved if there had been enough will and interest on the part of those who have been holding both Bar and Barane hostage to their bad politics for too long.
How do you think you can solve the problem of unemployment, which is faced by many municipalities in Montenegro, and how, if you are in power, will you increase the standard of living of the citizens?
Unemployment is a big problem in the municipality of Bar, Bar used to be an economic giant in the south, but unfortunately that is long gone, mostly thanks to DPS. They destroyed almost all bar companies, let's just remember numerous dubious privatizations. The sale of the most important part of the Port of Bar, the container terminal, the Port of Adria, for only eight million euros, perhaps best speaks of how much the DPS and numerous functionaries of that party who from Bar thought of their city, I will remind you that the decision on the sale was made the government he headed Igor Luksic, otherwise Aranin. It is privatization that should be the subject of interest of the Special State Prosecutor's Office.
It is not easy to recover a destroyed economy and create something from nothing, but in our election program a special part refers to this problem, we plan to connect with local rural producers and start a factory through which their products would be marketed. Also, in our program we have measures that would enrich the tourist and cultural offer of the city of Bar, so that the city would live throughout the year, not just for a few months during the summer. We will arrange numerous unused offices owned by the municipality in such a way that they can be used by young Bar entrepreneurs, who will receive subsidies for self-employment, but also by digital nomads, because we believe that Bar can be extremely attractive for them.
Do you have a plan on how to concretely help the citizens to meet the further deterioration of economic conditions in the country?
The fact is that the economic situation has become more complex in the last few years due to the coronavirus pandemic and the economic crisis the world is currently facing. That's why when we take over the local administration, we will analyze the situation in detail, and allocate budget funds in the best way, in order to make the life of the citizens of Bar better. A special part of our program is social policy, which must be better, citizens will have full support in this sense, we will pay special attention to our elderly fellow citizens, we are planning a series of services that will be at their service.
How do you intend to keep young people in the city?
We are planning subsidies for young entrepreneurs and their business ideas, we also plan to give them part of the municipal offices that will be arranged in a modern and contemporary way so that as many young entrepreneurs as possible have their own space to work. The business world is changing more and more, and a city like Bar must follow that development. I am sure that very young people will recognize all the good ideas and be the engine of change in our city. But we must not forget our fellow citizens who lost their jobs in their best years during the transition period, so in parallel with the program for young people, we will also have a program for those of our fellow citizens who were left jobless by the DPS by destroying bar companies.
If you are in power, will you deal with the practice of party favoritism in local offices?
I already said at the presentation of our program that Bar will no longer be a city of the privileged, but a city of equals. In this sense, we will make local administration transparent and all citizens will have an equal chance to get a job in accordance with their qualifications.
What result do you expect in the elections? Which subjects are you potentially ready to cooperate with after the election? What is your condition for cooperation with anyone?
We expect a good result, I am convinced that together with our colleagues from the current opposition, we will form a new majority in the Bar. We will cooperate with those parties that do not want coalitions and cooperation with the DPS, and I believe that we will celebrate the victory together on October 23.
