Aleksandar Lekić, a candidate for councilor from the list "For the future of Bar - Maja Vukićević", said that local elections in 14 municipalities in Montenegro must be an expression of the free will of the people.
This, as he said, must be guaranteed by everyone who participates in the election process, every individual, all legal entities and all state bodies.
He said that anyone who in any way commits a criminal offense against electoral rights will be sanctioned in accordance with the Criminal Code of Montenegro (Articles 185-194).
"In addition to the obstruction of free will being condemned as an immoral act of betrayal of one's people and the state, this is also an act that is strictly punishable according to the Criminal Code of Montenegro. There are fines as well as prison sentences of up to five years," said Lekić, and it is stated in the statement of the Movement for Change.
He also noted that these provisions have already been applied and that certain persons have already been convicted and punished for criminal offenses against electoral rights.
He reminded that one of those verdicts was the publicly announced verdict of the Basic Court in Pljevlje against several defendants who were accused of the criminal offense of abuse of office.
He also stated that the former director of the Center for Social Work in Pljevlja was sentenced to six months in prison for abuse of official position when awarding a one-time financial aid before the elections in October 2012. As he said, the official of that institution was also convicted.
It is sad, as he said, to know that the DPS later rewarded some of those convicted for these crimes with party and public positions.
They note, as he says, and warn all those who even thought of doing anything contrary to the will of the election in these elections that they may suffer the aforementioned consequences.
"Let the people vote in peace and whoever they want," said Lekić.
He said that DPS is no longer in power and no one can protect him and absolve him of guilt for such acts.
"Don't embarrass yourself and your family by having your name mentioned in the newspaper in this way and don't allow yourself fines and prison sentences, because of the same people who don't care about you, as well as because of the dirty money they give you, because you can lose a lot more - first of all your reputation and then everything else - the money with which you will pay fines but also freedom," concluded Lekić.
