The region of the Western Balkans is an interesting security area and therefore it should be high on the agenda of NATO and the European Union, said the President of the Assembly Danijela Đurović.

During the First Parliamentary Summit of the International Crimean Platform, she met with the Vice-President of the French Parliament, Valerie Rabeau.

Đurović pointed out, as announced by the Assembly, that Montenegro and France have excellent relations, which are characterized by political dialogue, intensive cooperation in many areas, partnership within NATO and France's support for the European integration of our country. She reminded that the negotiation process between Montenegro and the EU has been going on for ten years, but that membership in the European family of nations is still our key strategic goal, which is supported by a large percentage of citizens.

"Reflecting on the current war events in Ukraine, President Đurović pointed out that the region of the Western Balkans is also an interesting security area, and that it should therefore be high on the agenda of NATO and the European Union," the announcement states.

As it was added, Rabo expressed interest in the internal situation in our country, as well as in the process of European integration, and pointed out that Montenegro, as before, will have all the necessary support from France in order to join the European Union as soon as possible.

"The interlocutors exchanged opinions on the energy and food crisis, which are affecting more and more countries, and jointly stated that the European Union should provide an adequate response when it comes to this problem, with special reference to the countries of the Western Balkans," the announcement concludes.
