The municipal board of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) in Šavnik announced that it has called on the competent state authorities to ensure that the election day in that municipality is held in a democratically valid manner, in order to preserve the democratic principle of government elections.

Voting in the local elections is repeated in Šavnik today, at five polling stations.

"After a large number of incidents and irregularities that marked the election day in Šavnik last Sunday, the perpetrators continue with their disgraceful behavior even today at the repetition of the vote," reads the announcement of DPS Šavnik.

According to reports, this morning a member of the polling committee in front of the Democratic Front (DF) at the Kruševica polling station forbade a citizen to vote.

"Such an act represents a gross violation of the electoral process, because it is inadmissible for anyone to prevent a citizen from performing his civic duty and exercising his right to vote," said the DPS.

They add that it is extremely scandalous that persons who represent themselves as some kind of future of Šavnik, in the continuity of last week, and now and this week, commit criminal acts unworthy and uncharacteristic of that area.

"All those who are prone to such criminal acts, who make it impossible for our fellow citizens to civilly and democratically elect representatives in the local parliament, are neither worthy of emancipatory and modern Montenegro nor are they worthy of representing Šavnik", they conclude in the statement.
