DPS Šavnik: A member of the electoral committee from DF alienated a number of votes

The municipal committee of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) in Šavnik announced that after the scandal that at some polling stations members of the polling committees from the coalition parties "For the Future of Šavnik" did not allow some voters to vote, "it was the turn of the theft of election materials".

"Namely, a member of the electoral committee in front of the DF, Dejan Gašević, at the Kruševica polling station, stole a number of ballots and already committed two criminal acts. The police, unfortunately, do not contribute to the protection of the regularity of the electoral process, because they give themselves the right to qualify whether is an action a criminal offense or not. So when the members of the polling committee do not allow voting to continue, the police consider that it is not a criminal offense even though Article 189 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of Montenegro clearly stipulates that preventing voting is a criminal offense," the statement reads.

DPS Šavnik called on the prosecutor's office to prosecute Gašević and carry out all actions within its jurisdiction.

"In order to protect both the election process itself and democracy in Montenegro, such shameful and arrogant behavior must be severely sanctioned," they said.
