The debate in the Assembly on the occasion of the Annual Report on the work of the Judicial Council exposed the truth about the unconstitutional parliamentary majority, which is doing everything to divert Montenegro from the European path forever, said Suzana Pribilović, deputy of the Democratic Party of Socialists.
She said that in today's discussion at the session of the Assembly, on the occasion of the Annual Report on the work of the Judicial Council and the overall situation in the judiciary for the past year, the MPs were dealing with replacing theses about the alleged crime of the former government.
Pribilović stated that the session confirmed once again that "the unconstitutional parliamentary majority does not have the courage to admit the reality - that in the two years since the parliamentary elections on August 30, thanks to them, Montenegro has experienced the biggest setback in the past few decades."
"With deafening noise, failed platitudes uttered a hundred times, they are trying to prevent the citizens of Montenegro from hearing the messages from Brussels, in which they state clear concerns about the current constitutional crisis brought about by the Government in a technical mandate, which further divided the country", stated Pribilović in announcement.
According to her, they try to ignore the messages in which Brussels says that Montenegro is more committed to the rule of law, to meeting the final benchmarks in order to finally close some chapters.
"And that judicial bodies, including the Constitutional Court, work with an incomplete composition due to the inability of the Assembly to elect new members, which disrupts their proper functioning," Pribilović added.
As she said, the citizens' attention should be diverted from the fact that the parliamentary majority formed after the 2020 elections is solely to blame for such evaluations of the European Union on the situation in Montenegro.
"We should not forget that it was these deputies who changed the system law in order to retire one man who was a special state prosecutor at the time, and as a result of that law, the function of 23 judges in the judiciary alone, including six judges of the Supreme Court, ended". said Pribilovic.
Pribilović assessed that the key and most problematic consequence is that today the Constitutional Court is blocked, precisely because of that law and the early retirement of certain judges.
"It should be hidden from the citizens that the unconstitutional majority tried to pass changes to the Law on Judicial Council and Judges without the opinion of the Venice Commission, but the European Commission has prevented them from doing so for the time being by conditioning its opinion on the previous opinion of the Venice Commission," said Pribilović.
She said that, bearing in mind the actions of the authorities and their decisions so far, it is to be expected that they will pass that law, as well as the Law on State Prosecution, despite the negative opinion of the Venice Commission, because it is in line with their personal and party interests. .
Pribilović assessed that these interests are more important for them than the interests of Montenegro to progress on its way to the EU.
"Montenegro, therefore, is dealing with an unconstitutional majority that is doing everything to divert us from the European path forever. However, the citizens are more aware of this day by day and we are telling them that no matter how much they change their views, they will not be able to escape from the citizens' court that awaits them in the upcoming extraordinary parliamentary elections", stated Pribilović.
