Extraordinary parliamentary elections are the most adequate solution, announced the President of Montenegro and the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) Milo Đukanović at a meeting with the Prime Minister of Spain and the President of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) Pedro Sanchez.
The DPS announced that Đukanović met with Sanchez on the sidelines of the Congress of the Socialist International, which is being held in Madrid.
"During the meeting, with a brief review of regional, European and global developments, views were exchanged on current processes in the two countries, and social challenges when it comes to implementing reforms. President Đukanović introduced the host to the key questions to which political elites must provide answers as would get out of the institutional crisis in Montenegro, stressing that extraordinary parliamentary elections are the most adequate solution," the DPS press release points out.
The statement adds that Sanchez "thanks to the detailed description of the situation and the evaluations, expressed his belief that Montenegro will overcome the challenges and continue the EU integration process with the appropriate dynamics".
"In addition, he welcomed the efforts of President Đukanović to remain unreservedly committed to the European perspective of Montenegro even in difficult circumstances. The two presidents emphasized the importance of party cooperation and agreed on the next activities. They also considered the possibility of holding a conference of socialist and social democratic leaders from the Western Balkans and the EU." , says the DPS announcement.
