The Committee of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) of the Capital City announced that due to the attempt by six of the 13 members of the Election Commission (EC) of the Capital City to announce the final results of the election, as well as the appointment of the Chairman of the Election Commission, it lodged two objections with the State Election Commission (SEC), "how legal violence would not cause harmful consequences for the interests of the citizens of Podgorica".
"After the closed session of the Election Commission of the Capital City, a small number of members and a person who falsely presents himself as a member of the Election Commission, whose function ceased by force of law the moment she accepted the candidacy for councilor, first made an illegal decision on the election of the chairman, and then decided without a quorum on objections and the announcement of the final results. In addition to the action of the State Election Commission on objections, in this case the Special State Prosecutor's Office must be involved without delay, so that the end of the election process is carried out through the institutions of the system, and not through informal groups of citizens who gave themselves the right to trample on the Constitution and the laws of this country", according to the announcement of the DPS Board of the Capital City.
They also stated that they respect the electoral will of the citizens of Podgorica.
"And, in accordance with the law, it will be verified through the new composition of the city parliament. We confirmed this by voting in the Electoral Commission, rejecting all the objections that challenged the election results. However, respect for the electoral will is just as important as respect for the Constitution and the law. By declaring of the election results, contrary to the Constitution, earlier judgments of the Constitutional Court, the opinion and instructions of the State Election Commission, the political parties that are conducting negotiations on the formation of the government in Podgorica would do incalculable damage to the capital city and create, in our opinion, an unnecessary mortgage to the new city administration," concludes announcement of the DPS Board of the Capital City
