The Women's Club of the Assembly encourages the trust shown to women during the constitution of the local parliament and local self-government bodies in Budva.
This is after women in the Municipality of Budva were entrusted with a majority in the parliament, announced the vice-president of the Assembly and co-president of the Women's Club, Branka Bošnjak.
For Bošnjak, "this act shows the growing trend of awareness in Montenegrin society about the ability, endurance and commitment of women in all spheres of society and family".
"Supporting this political moment, the Women's Club believes and expresses the hope that this will become an established practice, both at the level of local self-governments and at the state level," the statement of the Assembly states.
Bosniak reminds that they strive for a greater number of women to be in decision-making bodies, as well as to move the border quota up to 50 percent of women's participation on electoral lists.
"We believe that the amendment of the electoral legislation should be directed in that direction and improved", the announcement concludes.
