Caring for the elderly is one of the priorities and Montenegro is creating an environment and a system of social protection that enables productive, healthy, positive and dignified aging through institutional and social mechanisms, which support the potential of the elderly to lead a quality life and contribute to society to the extent of their capabilities and needs. .
This was said by the Minister of Labor and Social Welfare, Admir Adrović, who laid the foundation stone for the construction of a home for the elderly in Plav with the president of that municipality, Nihad Canović.
Adrović said that he is particularly glad that he has the opportunity to officially start the construction of such an important project, such as the Home for the Elderly in the municipality of Plav.
"As you know, with the Strategy adopted by the Government of Montenegro, care for the elderly is one of the priorities. Montenegro creates an environment and a system of social protection that enables productive, healthy, positive and dignified aging through institutional and social mechanisms that support the potential of the elderly to lead a quality life and contribute to society to the extent of their capabilities and needs", said Adrović.
He added that we now have five homes for the elderly in the social protection system, three of which are open, and he used the opportunity to announce the opening of the Home for the Elderly in Podgorica, which, as planned, will officially start operating on December 14, as well as the opening of the Home for the Elderly in Nikšić, which is planned for January next year.
The Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare announced that there will be room for 62 users in the Home for the Elderly in Plav, and the estimated value of the project is around 2,8 million euros.
As they stated, the home will make health care available to users and provide them with care during illness, provide work-occupational and similar activities, as well as numerous other services and content in order to improve the living conditions of senior citizens.
"This project is of exceptional value from several aspects, and we see its justification in the care and help of those who need it the most. Bearing in mind the fact that Plav is a displaced municipality from which a significant number of citizens have moved, who are now unable to lead care for elderly family members, we recognized the importance and significance of building such a facility for elderly citizens," the minister added.
Adrović said that the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare started this project in 2019, by providing the main construction project and carrying out an audit, and with the dedicated and dedicated work and efforts of the then Minister Kemal Purišić in cooperation with the Municipality of Plav, the location and communal equipment were provided. of the object.
He thanked Canović and his colleagues for correct cooperation and understanding of the importance of building such a facility, intended for senior citizens, with the aim of improving the social protection of adults and the elderly.
On that occasion, Canović pointed out that the municipal leadership is truly committed to the realization of this project, which will bring numerous benefits to the local population, primarily to the elderly, that the support of the Municipality was unquestionable and is an indicator of the focus on the real life needs of our fellow citizens.
"The opening of this institution is significant for Plav for several reasons, as it means the opening of new jobs, but also the arrival of users from other municipalities that do not have a home for the elderly in their territory. It is also of great importance that in this institution for the elderly there will be provided complete care and health care, comfortable accommodation, but also professional social and psychological help," said Canović.
On this occasion, Adrović visited the Center for Social Work and held a meeting with the President of the Municipality.
