Prava Montenegro called on the president of the country, Milo Đukanović, to act in accordance with the Constitution and issue a decree on the promulgation of the re-voted Law on the President.
"Considering the current events in Montenegro, for which the policy continuously implemented by the Democratic Party of Socialists since the loss of power is the most responsible policy, the outcome could hardly have been different. The legal void due to the arbitrariness of one man, Milo Đukanović, was created the moment he refused to act in accordance with the Constitution, Article 95, paragraph 1, point 5, which stipulates that the competence of the President of the State is, among other things, to propose to the Assembly a representative for the composition of the Government after discussions with the representatives of the political parties represented in the Assembly.
"As the framers of the constitution did not foresee the situation that arose, we came to a vacuum created by the sick ambitions of one man and his chair. On the other hand, the Law on the President contains only the rights of the President, i.e. the obligations of the state towards him, which is another proof of the frivolity of the policy led by the Democratic Party of Socialists, and a shining example of their concern for the country," announced the general secretary of Prava Aleksandra Deletić.
She said that the refusal to implement the constitutional jurisdiction, which "is not regulated in detail by the Law", always "leads to the question of whether something is or is not in accordance with the Constitution, as is the case with the approved Law on the President of Montenegro".
That is why, he adds, the parliamentary majority "was obliged to untangle the Gordian knot in which the country currently finds itself".
"Aware of the fact that the Constitutional Court would confirm that it is a constitutional amendment of the Law, the DPS MPs are resorting to obstructions in the form of not voting for the judges of the Constitutional Court, their supporters to vandalism and serious criminal acts, and all together in a package attacked Montenegro.
"We call on Đukanović to act in accordance with the Constitution and issue a decree on the promulgation of the re-voted Law, and then accept the unblocking of the Constitutional Court in order to remove both his personal and the doubts of the interested domestic and international public," the statement concludes.
