Austria's Federal Minister for European and International Affairs Alexander Schallenberg and Slovenia's Minister of Foreign Affairs Tanja Fajon will visit Montenegro on Wednesday, December 21, on the mandate of the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Jozep Borelj.
The ministers will meet with President Milo Đukanović, President of the Assembly Danijela Đurović and Prime Minister Dritan Abazović, after which they will hold a joint press conference at the European House at 14.15:XNUMX p.m., the EU info center announced.
"Montenegro is one of the closest partners of the European Union, has made good progress in accession negotiations and has the longest experience of full compliance with the EU's common foreign and security policy. This visit is being organized at a time when recent political events have caused a serious institutional crisis, undermining democratic institutions. and slowing down the state's progress on the road to EU accession," the statement said.
They add that the visit will be an opportunity to emphasize that in order to progress towards EU accession - which is the wish of the vast majority of Montenegrin citizens - all political actors should support the functionality of institutions, especially the Constitutional Court.
