The presidency of the Democratic People's Party (DNP) announced that it had authorized President Milan Knežević to advocate the position that in the upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections, the list holders and the candidate for the president of the state should be from the parties - constituents of the Democratic Front.
This was announced by that party after today's session of the DNP Presidency, chaired by Knežević.
In this way, as they state, the ideological and programmatic activities of the DF would be further confirmed.
"Because without a doubt, the candidate for president from the DF would defeat Milo Đukanović in the second round, while the parliamentary list, headed by a prominent DF official, would be the strongest and dominant constituent of the new government," said the DNP. .
In the announcement, they state that they once again appeal to all participants in parliamentary life in Montenegro to reach a parliamentary and political consensus for the unification of parliamentary and presidential elections together in order to rationalize them.
As they say, the activities and responsibilities of Party officials have been agreed upon in anticipation of the upcoming early parliamentary and presidential elections.
"Montenegro is facing serious socio-political challenges and it is more than obvious that the replaced Government of Dritan Abazović cannot properly offer concrete solutions for getting out of the general crisis. Looking at the recently concluded local elections, in which the Democratic Front at the level of Montenegro won 22 percent of the vote and thereby once again confirmed a serious growth trend and grounding in the electorate," the announcement reads.
They conclude that at the session, a decision was also unanimously made to hold the regular Third Congress of the DNP of Montenegro after the parliamentary and presidential elections.
