Aleksandar Bogdanović, Secretary General of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), called on all political actors "who have even a hint of responsibility left" to do what is up to them and to elect the judges of the Constitutional Court as soon as possible and immediately deny the mandate to the Assembly.
It is necessary, as he pointed out, to establish a responsible government in the elections, which will be dedicated to Montenegro, and not to the interests of others.
"The past few days represented the culmination of everything bad that has happened to Montenegro in the last two years, since it was 'refreshed', and power was taken over by those who promised changes. And they made changes - just such. Today, Montenegro is led by the so-called parliamentary majority in which the political alliance whose officials publicly brag about their vassal, servile position has the main say. The worst chauvinistic outbursts of officials and the sowing of hatred have become a common occurrence," Bogdanović said.
He said that attempts to interfere in the work of the judiciary and pressures regarding the decisions of the judicial branch of government, along with "inadmissible visits to gatherings that affirm the destruction of a neighboring and friendly state, along with calls for the creation of single-national states" are what ministers from the government that lost are doing directly trust.
"Those who asked for elections at this time last year are now running away from them, institutions have been destroyed, the public debt is growing uncontrollably, and the country is run by a government that fell almost half a year ago, and which has since been left without three ministers, among them two of them also had the role of vice president. Those who should in that situation show even an iota of responsibility talk about 'diagnoses' on television, unaware that they are the worst possible diagnosis of this society," adds Bogdanović.
All this, he reminds, is happening in a period when Montenegro is "open, and quite justified", threatened by the possibility of interrupting European integration processes.
"Instead of worrying about that, the parliamentary majority affirms either the Open Balkans or the 'Serbian (half) world', if there is any difference between those two terms, from the Montenegrin perspective.
"We know very well that the citizens are wondering where the civil opposition is in this whole story and what are its next steps... Well, if anyone missed it, the opposition has been warning for two whole years about the threats facing Montenegro - which eventually came true. We knew very well who was coming to power and what agenda they were implementing and in whose interest they were working. Our attempt to support the 43rd Government was motivated solely by the hope that the opportunity presented to us in terms of accelerating European integration would be used. Unfortunately, the leadership that government did everything to prevent that from happening, and so now we have not only stagnated, but the situation is much worse," says Bogdanović.
He said that this time the opposition must have only two goals, the first of which is the election of judges of the Constitutional Court.
"Those who believed that they would unilaterally impose the candidates they wanted realized that it does not work that way. We are always open to an agreement - and only an agreement leads to a solution to this issue, which has led to an extremely complex situation in the socio-political system," said the DPS official.
The second goal, he adds, is conditioned precisely by the election of judges of the Constitutional Court.
"Of course, we are talking about extraordinary elections, which today are unequivocally desired by the overwhelming majority of political parties. Those who are against it generally do not even know whether they would even be able to pass the census. Precisely because of this, the only one who can obstruct those two goals - and which are directed exclusively in the direction of welfare for the whole society, regardless of political divisions - are those who are reluctant to leave power, which they usurp, and in which they are supported by less than three percent of the citizens of Montenegro.
"For this reason, I would also like to appeal to all political actors who have even a hint of responsibility left to take what is up to them and to elect the judges of the Constitutional Court as soon as possible and immediately deny the mandate to the Assembly, in order to establish a responsible government, which will be devoted to Montenegro, and not to the interests of others," Bogdanović pointed out.
Montenegro, as he said, has no government today.
"It has power in an acting state, without ability, authority and responsibility. And how far such a structure has brought the state quite deliberately - we can best see these days. Every new day of this kind of 'functioning' of the entire system is a new step backwards, towards even greater agony and counter-revolution in every possible field. Does anyone of good will really want that? The answer is clear," he concluded.
