Respected doctor, long-time president of the Red Cross, humanist and politician Asim Dizdarević died at the age of 83.
Dr. Asim Abazov Dizdarević was born in 1940 in Bijelo Polje, he completed elementary school and high school in his hometown, and the Faculty of Medicine in Zagreb.
He was one of the most famous pediatricians and generally the most respected Montenegrin doctors and humanists.
He served as the president of the Municipality of Bijelo Polje in 1989 and 1990.
Dizdarević was elected as a deputy and vice-president of the Parliament of Montenegro, a deputy in the Council of Citizens of the Assembly of the FRY, president of the Red Cross of Montenegro and president of the Association of Pediatricians of Yugoslavia.
Dr. Asim Dizdarević was the winner of the Third January Award, the UNICEF plaque, the Gold Badge of the Republic and Federal Red Cross and numerous awards, and he is also the author of over fifty scientific papers.
Condolences will be received today from 17 to 20 p.m. and tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 14 p.m. in the city gasulhana in Bijelo Polje, and the funeral will take place at 14 p.m. at the Lješnica cemetery in Bijelo Polje.
