The State Election Commission (SEC) did not confirm Andrija Mandić's candidacy for president this evening due to incomplete documentation related to the signatures of support, "Vijesti" learned unofficially from the SEC.

SEC, according to "Vijesti" information, reached a conclusion by which the candidacy of one of the leaders of the Democratic Front (DF) was sent back for revision.

As explained, the forms on which signatures are collected did not include the name of Mandić and his information

It was ordered that these data be supplemented and a deadline of 48 hours was given to do so. If this is not corrected within the deadline, the declaration of candidacy will be rejected.

On Friday, DF youth submitted a proposal for the presidential candidacy of Mandić to the SEC.

The candidacy was supported by DF constituents New Serbian Democracy (NSD), Democratic People's Party (DNP) and Movement for Change (PzP), while Prava Montenegro and the Workers' Party announced their support.

The SEC made a decision on Friday to address its colleagues in the Republic of Serbia Election Commission, with a request whether Mandić and the president of the Europe Now Movement, Milojko Spajić, have the right to vote and reside in that country.

Nominations can be submitted until February 26, and the SEC will publish the list of those who will be in the presidential race no later than March 3.

According to the Law on the Election of the President, if no candidate receives more than half of the valid votes of the voters, a second election round is held in 14 days.

The two candidates who received the largest number of votes take part in it.

The president is elected for five years.
