The presidential candidate of the Europe Now Movement (PES) Jakov Milatović believes that the fact that the Civic Movement URA officially supported the candidacy of Alekse Bečič (Democrat) for the highest office in the state is not important for his success in the presidential elections.
"I think that, whatever Dritan Abazović does, the majority of URA's membership and sympathizers will support me as a presidential candidate. These are the messages I receive from them every day. I think it's a great energy, that the citizens are reacting very well because they recognized that PES and I as a candidate are the bearers of the policies of the future and that we are the only ones who can finally stand in the way of the policies of the past and send them where they belong - into the past. We have good energy and a safe passage to the second round, and maybe even a victory on March 19," said Milatović.
Today in Tivat, he held a pre-election meeting with sympathizers and members of PES on the city's Pine waterfront and walked the streets of that city, and in direct contact with the people of Tivat, he presented his program.
Referring to the fact that after much deliberation, the URA today officially supported the presidential candidacy of the leader of the Democrats Aleksa Bečić, Milatović pointed out that "it is the legitimate political right of everyone to support whoever they think they should".
"As far as I understand, this is one support that comes at this moment precisely for the sake of some perhaps very short-term political interests in the context and reconstruction of Abazović's Government. However, I am sure that the largest number of members and sympathizers of GP URA will support me as a presidential candidate and that this will be an additional guarantee of my sure presidential victory," emphasized Milatović.
Referring to the verbal and physical attack on him last night by an elderly few citizens in Cetinje, he pointed out that these are "the last shocks of this value system symbolized by an outgrown political dinosaur like Milo Đukanović."
"You know how - on March 19, we will leave the dinosaurs where they belong, which is the past and we will leave them behind. What happened in Cetinje is just an additional motivation to continue our fight for a fairer, more beautiful, more equal Montenegro for all of us. I forgave those ten or so citizens of Cetinje, because Cetinje is, above all, a symbol of a beautiful and good Montenegro, which is also confirmed by the fact that in the meantime I have received many messages of support from many citizens of Cetinje," said Milatović, adding that what happened before "an organized action, organized by Đukanović, whom I completely defeated the night before in a TV debate on RTCG" happened in Prijestonica.
"It is obvious that he does not reconcile and does not cope with this situation in which the citizens clearly sent him a message that he should be a part of the past," concluded Milatović.
