Prime Minister Dritan Abazović announced on behalf of the Government that he is very proud of how yesterday's election day went in Montenegro.
"Yesterday was like in the countries of Western Europe... I think that it is something that should serve everyone's honor," Abazović stated at today's Government session.
As he said, all the participants in the election process contributed to this with "very conciliatory messages".
"The focus is no longer on the past but on progress. I consider it a great progress compared to the previous period. All those fears that existed before are slowly disappearing," said the Prime Minister.
He said that the Government made a big contribution to such an atmosphere, that is, to "Montenegro getting out of the jaws of the past and stepping into a new stage".
"That stage means breaking political monopolies, political fear, breaking the story that someone will steal something from us, take the state to another place, that some criminal structures will return..."
He announced his political position regarding the second round of presidential elections.
"I think that Montenegro needs to get a new president and it will get one," said Abazović.
According to the preliminary results of the Center for Democratic Transition, based on 100 percent of the processed sample, DPS candidate Milo Đukanović won 35,3 percent of the vote, Jakov Milatović from Movement Europe now 28,9 percent, and Andrija Mandić, candidate of the Democratic Front, 19 percent. They are followed by Democrat candidate Aleksa Bečić with 11,3 percent, SDP candidate Draginja Vuksanović Stanković with 3,2 percent, United Montenegro candidate Goran Danilović who won 1,5 percent and independent candidate Jovan Radulović with 0,8 percent.
