Ibrahimović: On the list to confirm our national, religious and national identity

In the upcoming population census, Bosniaks must confirm that they are a stable and mature people, aware of their national, religious and linguistic identity, said the leader of the Bosniak Party, Ervin Ibrahimović.

He congratulated Bosniaks in Montenegro on March 22 - Day of Bosniaks in Montenegro, recalling March 22, 2003, as "one of the most significant dates in the recent history of Bosniaks in Montenegro and a turning point on the path of maturing national and political consciousness."

"That day in Podgorica, at a round table on the topic 'Muslims – Bosniaks, what's your name?' the Declaration on the return of the national name Bosniak was adopted by the participants. This created the prerequisites for correcting the historical injustice done to the Bosniak people by taking away the right to public use of their national name, which is tied to centuries of glorious history, culture and tradition in these areas, but also the prerequisites for defining Bosniaks in Montenegro as a politically sovereign people with a mature national consciousness with the strength and capacity to work institutionally and in every other way to preserve and affirm their national uniqueness, cultural-historical heritage and national, political and all other rights," Ibrahimović said.

He said that on this day it is important to point out that the reaffirmation of the national name, and thus of the national history, culture and tradition, in Montenegro "is still an unfinished process burdened by the legacy of long-term denial of the real national name and the awarding of an 'appropriate' one, denial and ignorance of the national history, and the constant striving towards the assimilation of Bosniaks".

"In this regard, I remind you that we have a population census in front of us, where we must be worthy of our ancestors, but also at the level of national consciousness that the signatories of the Declaration of March 22, 2003 were at, and confirm that we are a steadfast and mature nation aware of our of national, religious and linguistic identity. Once again, happy Bosniak Day in Montenegro to all Bosniaks in Montenegro with a reminder: Nationality - BOSNIAK; Religion - ISLAM; Language - BOSNIAN," concluded Ibrahimović.
