The first round of presidential elections last Sunday exposed all the manipulations and "exposed the rhetoric of the outgoing government" of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) in Savnik, the "For the Future of Savnik" coalition announced.
"The competent state authorities have recently informed the Montenegrin public that almost 200 electoral tourists have moved from Šavnik, which is less than half of the total number of immigrants. Also, over 100 more 'voters' are listed in the voter list, although they have nothing to do with Šavnik, and they exercised their right to vote in the first round of elections. Despite all these abuses of voting rights, based on false registrations of residence, support for the political interest group in Šavnik is decreasing every day," the announcement states.
They said that the result of the first round of presidential elections was the convincing defeat of DPS candidate Milo Đukanović in Šavnik.
"Obviously, the citizens said 'no': to the policy of multi-year election thefts, to the politics of crime and corruption, to the politics of division, brother-hatred and god-hatred, to the policy that destroyed Šavnik economically, demographically and administratively. At the same time, the citizens said 'no' to the local government due to criminal complicity with individuals from the MUP in the electoral settlement of Šavnik. As a drastic example of their complicity in these dirty and criminal actions is the 'submission' of the personal data of the holders of the electoral lists of the coalition 'For the Future of Šavnik' and the coalition Democrats, United Montenegro and Europe now, by an individual from the local MUP, the top of the Šavnica DPS," the statement added.
The Coalition for the Future of Šavnik pointed out that everyone must be concerned that the competent authorities of the Ministry of Interior, despite a series of reports, requests and invitations sent by that coalition, as well as by citizens, "have not undertaken activities to determine hundreds of cases of reports of false residence, without talking about prosecuting those guilty of the same actions".
The Coalition for the Future of Šavnik reported more than 150 people who, the coalition claims, falsely registered their residence on the territory of that municipality.
"A few months ago, amendments to the Law on Registers of Residence and Residence came into force, which prevent fictitious residences, according to which the authorities of the MUP are obliged to check the residence of citizens, but even that circumstance is apparently not enough for the competent authorities to do their job on the basis of applications submitted to them by the coalition For the Future of Šavnik.
It is devastating, as they said, that certain state bodies "obviously still under the influence of the defeated DPS regime continue to serve the politics of crime and corruption", to the detriment of "free citizens and their right to exercise their right to vote in a fair and equal match".
"On this occasion, we once again appeal to the competent authorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs to take actions within their jurisdiction and check all cases of 'fictitious' residence, noting that the individuals from the MUP who actively participated in the 'settlement' of Šavnik, complicit in criminal acts cannot expect them to implement the adopted amendments to the Law. Despite everything, the free citizens of Šavnik will even more convincingly defeat the thirty-year regime of Milo Đukanović in the second round of the presidential elections, both in Šavnik and in the whole of Croj Gora," the announcement concludes.
