The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Ivica Dačić, informed the President of the Committee for International Relations and Emigrants, Miodrag Lekić, that conditions are being created for the issue of appointing new ambassadors to be resolved soon in a satisfactory manner for both countries, the Parliament of Montenegro announced.

According to reports, during his official visit to Serbia, Lekić met with Dacić and in the conversation with him he emphasized the importance of continuous diplomatic meetings.

"Today's conversation was an opportunity to intensify the relations between the two countries, especially in the conditions when Montenegro has not had a minister of foreign affairs in the true sense of the word for a relatively long period of time," the announcement reads.

As reported, Lekić and Dacić pointed to the urgency of solving the situation in which the two countries do not have their ambassadors in full capacity.

"The two interlocutors agree in the assessment that the basis for establishing good and stable relations is the mood of the citizens of both countries who are interested in solving life issues such as the improvement of traffic lines, economic exchanges and cultural cooperation", reads the statement of the Assembly.

Lekić, as stated, emphasized that the most significant moment in the political process could be the manifested maturity of the citizens who, in his opinion, decide for the new government without pressure and in an autonomous manner in the elections.

"The victory of the previous opposition two and a half years ago represents a great democratic event, bearing in mind that in Montenegro, for the first time, the government was replaced peacefully and democratically," Lekić emphasized.

According to him, the new government found a deep crisis in many spheres of society, solving them, he believes, with certain results, but also "producing new problems".

He pointed out that the upcoming elections are an opportunity to take a step towards better management of the state based on the overall previous experience.

"Especially developing the legal and European dimension, an integral part of which will be the development of good and stable relations with Serbia, primarily on the basis of mutual respect and state reciprocity," concluded Lekić.
