The Ambassador of the European Union to Montenegro, Oana Kristina Popa, said that Montenegro should now nurture unity and commitment to its future in the European Union (EU) and progress in key reforms.
The Pope announced this during a speech at a reception on May 9, Europe Day.
"A year full of challenges is behind us. We are a generation of Europeans facing the greatest security, health and economic risks since the creation of united Europe, 73 years ago," according to the statement of the European House.
As Popa said, she still feels great pride for the strength and unity that Europeans have shown in these difficult times.
"We have proven, both to ourselves and to others, that we remain true to our values, that we serve our citizens and that we stand firmly by our friends and partners," said Popa.

He points out that together we overcame an unprecedented health crisis, and helped those who needed economic help the most, and as he says, stood by our neighbors in Ukraine, in their just fight against tyranny and aggression.
"I am honored to serve in Montenegro, which fully stood by the European Union against the Russian war of aggression, and opened its doors to thousands of Ukrainian refugees. Montenegro acted correctly and justly," Popa emphasized.
He adds that the tragic events in neighboring Serbia since last week have shown that solidarity and compassion know no borders.
"Just as we are united in empathy for these terrible tragedies, we must also build a better present and future for our children together," she said.
"Let's remember the famous words of one of the greatest pioneers of the European Union, German Chancellor Konrad Adenauer: "European unity was the dream of a few people. It became the hope of many. Today, it is a necessity for all of us," Popa stressed.
Popa claims that now Montenegro needs unity and joint work above political and other differences, in order to make this wish come true and for this beautiful country to become part of a united Europe.
"Cheers and happy Europe Day," Popa concluded.
The reception on the occasion of Europe Day hosted by the Ambassador of the European Union to Montenegro, Oana Kristina Popa, was also attended by the President of Montenegro, Milo Đukanović, the President's Information Service announced.
The Government of Montenegro announced that the President of the Government of Montenegro, Dritan Abazović, attended the reception with ministers and associates.
