The Agency for the Prevention of Corruption announced the obligations of political entities that will participate in the parliamentary elections on June 11 this year, which are prescribed by the Law on Financing of Political Entities and Election Campaigns.
"Political entities are obliged to open a special giro account for collecting funds and financing election campaign expenses, before the start of the election campaign activities defined by law, and no later than the day after the confirmation of the electoral list", the announcement of the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (ASK) states.
KAS points out that the political entity appoints a responsible person for the purposeful spending of funds and submission of reports, and that it informs KAS of the opening of a giro account and the appointment of a responsible person within three days.
The Agency for the Prevention of Corruption emphasized that political entities are obliged to submit to them, "a fifteen-day report on the contributions of legal and natural persons (fifteen days during the campaign from the day the giro account of the political entity is opened); a report on media advertising seven days before the day of the election (5 . June); a temporary report on the expenses of the election campaign five days before the day of the election (June 6); a report on the funds collected and spent during the election campaign, with accompanying documentation, within 30 days from the day of the election (July 11 )".
"Failure to open a special giro account and failure to submit a report affect the transparency of the election process, raises suspicions about the illegality of collecting and spending funds for the election campaign, and entails misdemeanor liability," the announcement states.
KAS points out that a detailed description of obligations for political subjects in connection with the financing of the election campaign is available at the link Control and supervision plan.
"Data on the total amount of allocated funds for financing the election campaign from public sources, and the allowed amount of election campaign expenses are available at the link Committed funds", it is stated in the announcement of ASK.
"For any additional information, those subject to the Act can contact the Department for the Control of the Financing of Political Entities and Election Campaigns, by phone at 020/407-706 and by email at financija@antikorupcija.me," concludes the Agency's announcement.
