The leader of the Social Democratic Party, Raško Konjević, is retiring from politics after the parliamentary elections, it was confirmed to "Vijesta" from several sources.
Konjević is not on the list of the SDP, which will run independently in the elections, after it was decided by a narrow majority at the Main Committee.
According to the knowledge of "Vijesti", Ivan Vujović and Bojan Zeković are mentioned as the new leaders of the party.
Konjević was elected as the leader of the SDP at the party's congress at the end of January 2021.
Konjević was a member of the SDP in the Parliament of Montenegro for many years.
He also held the positions of Minister of Finance in the Government of Electoral Trust in 2016, Minister of Internal Affairs in 2012-2016; as well as the Minister of Defense in the Government of Dritan Abazović.
He was a member of the Committee for Security and Defense, the Committee for Economy, Finance and Budget and the Committee for International Relations and European Integration in the Parliament of Montenegro, as well as the joint Committee of the Montenegrin and European Parliaments (POSP);
He also served as the President of the Assembly of the Capital City of Podgorica, 2010-2011;
He has been a member of the Presidency of the Social Democratic Party since 2007.
At the Faculty of Business Studies "Montenegro Business School" he was an associate in the course Basics of Management, 2005 – 2012.
He worked in the service of the Parliament of Montenegro from 2003 to 2006.
