HGI again won the hearts of northerners

The Croatian Civic Initiative (HGI), which is the national party of Croats as one of the fewest minority peoples in Montenegro, won votes in all Montenegrin municipalities in the parliamentary elections.

In this way, the party he leads Adrian Vuksanovic, she repeated what happened in the 2016 elections when she won votes in the municipalities of Montenegro where, according to the results of the census, there are no Croats at all or they live in symbolic numbers.

In 2016, 1.663 citizens voted for "Croatian heart for Montenegro", as the HGI election slogan read at the time. Then votes came from some polling stations where it was completely unexpected - like 21 votes from Pod above Herceg Novi, where almost 100 percent of the Orthodox live. Podi is near the village of Žlijebi, where a memorial service is held every year for the Chetnik general and collaborator of the occupiers in World War II. Dear Mihajlovic. In the elections on June 11 this year, by the way, no one from Pod voted for HGI.

Seven years ago, HGI was voted for in the Andrijevic settlements of Prisoja, Zabrđe, Trešnjevo, Seoce and Peovac, via Vuč, Donji Lug, Donje Ržanica, Mezgal and Harem in Berane, Rakonje, Ravna Rijeka and Crnča in Bijelo Polje, Kujava and Donje Zagarč in Danilovgrad, Lipovske Bistrica and Drijenka in Kolašin, Uroševina in Mojkovac, Prnjavora in Plav, Glibavaca and Lever Tara in Pljevlje, Komarnica and Godijelja in Šavnik

This year, HGI was supported by as many as 40 percent of the voters who came out at the small polling station in the village of Vuča in the municipality of Berane. Namely, here, the Croatian National Party received two votes, while the remaining three residents of that village from Vasojević who went to the elections showed their confidence in the SNP-Demos "Za tebe" list.

One vote for HGI at the Jara-Babino Polje polling station in the municipality of Plav brought Adrijan Vuksanović's party a share of 3,57 percent in the total results of the election at that polling station, just slightly less than the 3,71 percent share that HGI had in the results with of the polling station JU Educational Center in Plužine.

HGI received 2,5 percent of the votes at the polling station at the "Đoko Prelević" Elementary School in Ubli in the Podgorica municipality, at the polling station at the Children's Resort in Veruša, as many as 3,85 percent voted, and at the polling station at the "Šćepan Đukić" Elementary School in Lijeva Rijeka 1,9 percent of citizens.

HGI also won 2,5 percent of all votes at the polling station in Kralje near Andrijevica, and at the polling station in Cecuni in the same municipality, it had a score of 3,57 percent.

A total of 11 votes came from 13 different polling stations in Rožaje, which HGI received on Sunday in that municipality, six votes from Tuzi with six polling stations, 10 from Zeta with the same number of polling stations, while three Durmitor citizens voted for the Croatian party from Žabljak.

According to the election results, the HGI policy in the north is quite supported by the people of Beran, where the Croatian National Party received 23 votes, the residents of Bjepolojci (35) and the people of Pljevlja (27), while the residents of Petnjica (1), Rožaj (13), Šavnik ( 1), Gusinja (1), Plava (6), Andrijevice (7), Mojkovac (8) and Plužina (2 votes). In Podgorica, HGI received 302 votes.

The people of Kolasin gave HGI 11 votes, the people of Nikšić 49, the citizens of Danilovgrad 19, while the politics led by Adrijan Vuksanović is highly appreciated in Cetinje, where the HGI tripled its score from the last election, to the current 90 votes. According to this, the people of Cetinje, where almost the entire population declares themselves as Montenegrins, are more favorable to the Croatian national party than some cities on the coast where citizens of Croatian nationality make up a significant share of the total population, such as Budva, where HGI received only 53 votes.

In the municipality where the most Croats live in Montenegro - Tivat, where the party's headquarters are also located, HGI achieved an excellent result on Sunday, as it was supported by as many as 803 citizens, in Bar 132 citizens voted for them, while HGI rounded up 139 residents on the ballot. Herceg Novi and 466 voters in Kotor.

On the coast, HGI fared worst in Ulcinj, where the population is dominated by Albanians and where the Croatian party received only 4 votes.

In these elections, another party that pleads to represent the interests of the Croatian national minority in Montenegro did not appear - the Croatian Reform Party, which in the elections in August 2020 had 496 votes, while HGI has now achieved a score of 2.231 votes.

The HGI campaign for the extraordinary parliamentary elections was openly supported by the President and Prime Minister of Croatia Zoran Milanovic i Andrej Plenkovic, in which Croatian diplomats accredited in Montenegro directly and openly participated in the field. Significant support for HGI among the faithful was also provided by the Diocese of Kotor through its channels this time.
