Nikolić: SDP is putting pressure on the members of the Tivat MEC

The President of the Tivat Municipal Election Commission (MEC) Tivat, Marijana Nikolić, announced that the Social Democratic Party (SDP) is "putting pressure on the members of the Municipal Election Commission, demanding deviations from the regulations and unequal treatment of the participants in the election process."

Nikolić reacted to SDP's allegations that the election process in Tivat was "rife with irregularities" and that the Tivat MEC "illegally refused the request for inspection of the election material".

"The Social Democratic Party, after the achieved result in the extraordinary parliamentary elections, trying to prove that the electoral process in Tivat was carried out with a large number of irregularities, is putting pressure on the members of the Municipal Election Commission, demanding a deviation from the regulations and unequal treatment of the participants in the electoral process," it states. in response Nikolić.

He adds that the SDP has a secretary in the permanent composition of the MEC, and in the expanded composition a member who makes valid decisions.

"When it comes to the allegedly illegal rejection of the request, we deny it in its entirety, considering that their original request for inspection of the election material and copying of the voter lists from June 14, filed here, was answered within the legally prescribed deadline with the conclusion of June 14, After the inspection by the authorized representatives, on the same day the OO SDP Tivat sends a complaint to the MEC, which the Commission considered and after a vote of all members present at the session, reached a conclusion to reject it, given that the complaint does not represent significant violations that would lead to a repeat of the electoral process"

Nikolić also states that on June 16, the OO SDP Tivat submitted a request to the MEC to review the election material again.

"Considering the said request, and after the discussion, eight of the nine members of the Municipal Election Commission, present at the session, judged that it should be rejected, given that the applicants have already inspected the election material, in accordance with the Law, and what I am writing about minutes of June 14. Bearing in mind the allegations that the authorized persons in front of the SDP had little time, i.e. that the commission interrupted them in inspecting the election material with BO No. 15, we hereby deny the same because it is untrue, about which all members of the commission can testify, including members delegated on behalf of SDP, who attended the inspection".

In his response, Nikolić states that "personal interests do not represent the motives that drive people in the composition of this Commission, who fulfill their actions and obligations in the same strictly professionally and in the public interest".

"Given that every conclusion of the MEC has an instruction on legal protection, we tell the SDP representatives that if they are dissatisfied with the decision made at their request, they should use all legal methods to protect their interests," concluded Nikolić.
