CGO: Young people better represented in this year's election programs

Participants in the recently held parliamentary elections paid a certain level of attention to the position of children and young people through election programs, proposing measures related to improving the quality of their lives, the Center for Civic Education (CGO) announced.

The non-governmental organization said that this refers to almost 80 percent of the total number of participants, that is, 12 election lists, noting that one list did not have a written election program.

As the CGO said, the percentage representation of young people in electoral list programs varied from a maximum of 17,4 percent for the Croatian Civic Initiative, over 11 percent for the list led by the Democratic Party of Socialists, and then 9,7 percent for the Albanian Alliance.

On the electoral list of the coalition of the Socialist People's Party and Demos, 9,1 percent of young people were represented, followed by the Europe Now Movement with 5,8, the Albanian Forum with 4,8, the Movement for Change with 3,8 and Urokret with 3,5 percent.

It is added that young people were the least represented by the Bosniak Party and the civic list "Yes. We Can for Civic Montenegro" with 2,4 and 1,3 percent, respectively.

The CGE stated that the political parties, participants in the parliamentary elections, paid a certain level of attention to young people in their election programs.

"But also that there is plenty of room for substantial, and especially action-oriented, improvement of the positioning of young people," says the announcement of the CGE.

They stated that it remains to be seen whether those political subjects who will be in power in the coming period will implement the promises made regarding the youth and their position in Montenegro.

"And thereby repair the broken trust that young people have when it comes to political parties," the announcement concludes.
