The government allocated around three million euros to census commissions that will work on the upcoming census of population, households and apartments.

At the session, the government adopted the Decision on the amount and allocation of funds to the census commissions for financing the census of population, households and apartments, by which it allocated funds for census financing to the census commissions in the amount of up to 3.207.279 euros.

It was also decided to give Monstat the entire building in the center of Podgorica, which it shares with the Commercial Court. As announced at the Government session, it is planned to move the Commercial Court to the old Government building.

"The building where Monstat's premises are currently located is the building where the Commercial Court is located. "Because of the census and based on what they said from the European Commission, it is necessary for Monstat to use the entire building," said Finance Minister Aleksandar Damjanović.

He explained at the Government session that the Administration for State Property and Cadastre proposed giving the building to Monstat without a fee for use, while part of the capacity in the old Government building would be transferred to the Commercial Court.

Damjanović also said that additional consultations are necessary, as well as that the Minister of Justice Marko Kovač asked for more time so that the proceedings would not be at the expense of any of the state authorities.

According to the decision of the Government of Dritan Abazović, the census should take place from November 1 to 15.

Monstat, which prepares the census, told "Vijesta" that all preparatory activities are being carried out "in accordance with the planned dynamics" and that the reference moment of the census (the date and time to which the census data refers) is October 31 at midnight.

The regular census, which is held every ten years, was supposed to be conducted in 2021, but was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Since then, this topic has been in the focus of the Montenegrin public several times, because some political actors (part of the August XNUMXth majority) insisted on holding the census, while others (the current opposition) claimed that there were no conditions for it, judging that it was not necessary to collect data about the nation , religion and language, which was also reported by NGOs, as well as the EU. Eventually, those questions will be part of the census survey.
