The General Secretary of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) Aleksandar Bogdanović said that he expects an "immediate apology" from the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, because he "unquestioningly" stood by the President of the Municipality Marko Kovačević during his "Neanderthal gesticulation".
Bogdanović also stated in the statement that the party demands Milatović to apologize to the citizens, and that they do not expect anything from Kovačević and those who keep him in power.
"Vijesti" announced that Kovačević held his middle finger outstretched during the singing of the national anthem, which the President of the Municipality of Nikšić denied, stating that he was "adjusting the watch and watch strap and there was no other intention in that position".
"On the occasion of today's scenes in Nikšić, during which we once again saw the extremely offensive attitude of the local government, embodied in Marko Kovačević, towards the state of Montenegro and its symbols, we demand from the President of the State Jakov Milatović to apologize to the citizens. From Kovačević and those who hold him we don't expect anything from the authorities. Theirs is to remain silent as obedient servants, which they have been doing for years. If they were not like that, they would never have allowed a convinced chauvinist, a man whose understandings are centuries behind the one in which we are in terms of calendar and civilization, who is happiest when he gets the opportunity to sing about the 'howling of the Turks and the whining of bulls', to become the president of a municipality such as Nikšić, which is thus humiliated like never before in history," said Bogdanović.
He adds that in that party they do not expect anything from the authorities.
"Because Kovačević was tolerated for violating the law by denying the genocide in Srebrenica. But, we expect an immediate apology from Milatović for standing by Kovačević without question during his Neanderthal gesticulation, and then his service, through the official channels of the president, shared it with the entire to the public the footage of that shameful moment," said Bogdanović.
