The New Serbian Democracy (Nova) invited the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Nikšić to "assess the position of the hands of the President of Montenegro Jakov Milatović" during the ceremony in Nikšić, which, as they stated, "during the singing of the national anthem, were in an inappropriate place for a sublime moment of pride for our own the state".
From that party, they assessed that the "shameful decision of the prosecution" for the president of Nikšić Municipality, Marko Kovačević, "is based on a tragicomic analysis of the position of his fingers that 'insulted the state' is another proof of the failed system of the past government that survives in the judiciary".
The Police Administration announced today that Kovačević's actions contain elements of the criminal offense of defaming the reputation of Montenegro, and that a criminal complaint will be filed against him due to the suspicion that he committed that criminal offense.
Last night, Kovačević held out his middle finger during the singing of the national anthem during the celebration of 13 years of operation of the "Day Center for Children with Disabilities and Persons with Disabilities Nikšić".
He told "Vijesti" yesterday that he did not show disrespect for the national anthem in any way and that he was adjusting the strap on his watch at the time it was recorded.
"We have been warning since August 30, 2020 that dismantling the former regime is the first thing that should be done in order for Montenegro to become a democratic and free state. However, instead, today we have exactly the same party soldiers and criminalized structures in the prosecution, judiciary, police, ANB, whose target is precisely those who dominantly contributed to the overthrow of the dictatorship. Montenegro will be a captive state until such people and their leaders are held accountable for the humiliation and embarrassment they have caused to this country and its citizens all these decades," he states. in Nova's announcement.
They claim that the "persecution" of Mayor Nikšić shows that "those members of the former regime from the prosecutor's office continue the circus started by Milivoje Katnić and must not deal with the key players of the mafia DPS system".
"After all, it was not only Zvicer and Lazović in ZIKS and the security sector who gathered reliable votes for Milo Đukanović, but also the majority of "reputable" members of the judiciary and the prosecution. So, on the one hand, we have the prosecution's silence on concrete and serious criminal acts in which political and the police top of the former regime, and on the other hand, they are openly inventing reasons for the express initiation of proceedings against the mayor of Nikšić, Marko Kovačević, in order to put his finger or fingers out of office in the coming period. We tell them not to be selective, but to use the same method as they assessed the suspicious static position of Marko Kovačević's finger, to also assess the position of the hands of the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, which, during the singing of the national anthem, were in an inappropriate place for a sublime moment of pride in one's country".
Nova called on, as they were called, the "reasonable managers of the Montenegrin prosecutor's office" to immediately stop "this mockery so that it does not serve as a mockery not only of the domestic, but also of the international public".
"Don't trash this country because it doesn't deserve it," the statement concluded.
