Adžić and Maddox: Cooperation between the United Kingdom and Montenegro in the field of defense will continue

Montenegro has proven that it is a credible and reliable ally, and I am convinced that it will continue to successfully cooperate with the United Kingdom (UK), said British Ambassador Karen Maddox.

According to the Ministry of Defense (MoD), during a meeting with the head of the Ministry of Defense and the Minister of the Interior Filip Adzić, she expressed her satisfaction with the cooperation achieved in the field of defense during her mandate.

The Ministry of Defense said that the meeting was held on the occasion of the expiration of Maddox's mandate.

"Minister Adžić thanked Ambassador Madox for her personal commitment to the improvement of overall relations between the UK and Montenegro, and especially for the UK's continuous support to the development of the capacities of the Ministry of Defense and the Army of Montenegro," the ministry said in a statement.

Adžić emphasized that the "very meaningful and high-quality" cooperation between the two countries enabled the progress of Montenegro in numerous defense segments, thanks, as he says, to the education and training of members of the Montenegrin Army at military educational institutions and training centers in the United Kingdom.

It is added that the members of the Army of Montenegro get the opportunity to apply the acquired theoretical education practically and thereby contribute to the improvement of the Montenegrin defense system.

"The UK has shown its commitment to our country by providing support in numerous areas, such as cyber security, crisis management, building integrity," said Adžić.

The announcement states that Madox expressed her belief in the continuation of cooperation, not only in the implementation of already started activities, but also, as she said, in working on long-term projects and plans, which are important for the improvement of the defense capacities of Montenegro.

It is added that she emphasized that in the coming period full support from the UK can be expected when it comes to cooperation in the field of defense.

"Adžić wished Ambassador Maddox success in her future work, and together they expressed their belief that the two allied countries will continue to contribute to the strengthening of the collective defense system through intensive cooperation in the coming period," the MoD statement reads.
