Montenegro highly values the contribution of British partners in terms of supporting democratic processes in the country, said Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović.
Today, he received the ambassador of the United Kingdom (UK) in Montenegro, Karen Maddox, on a farewell visit.
As announced by the president's office, Milatović said that the position of the UK, as one of the closest allies and partners of Montenegro, as well as comprehensive cooperation, is firmly established and remains unchanged.
He pointed out that Montenegro pays great attention to the further strengthening of bilateral relations with the UK.
"In addition to bilateral cooperation and the evidently strengthened NATO alliance, Montenegro highly values the contribution of British partners in terms of supporting democratic processes in our country," said Milatović.
He highlighted numerous areas in which the two countries achieved enviable cooperation in the past period.
Milatović said that, during Madox's mandate, numerous initiatives were implemented in various fields.
"We can be particularly satisfied and proud of the results achieved in the field of defense, the cooperation of police and customs services in the fight against organized crime and corruption, and the improvement of cyber capacity and resilience in very challenging times at the global level," said Milatović.
He assessed London's support for Montenegro's European path as particularly important.
"He concluded that Great Britain has a big role to play when it comes to the stability of the Western Balkans, and that it is continuously committed to all the challenges the region is facing," the statement said.
As it is added, he expressed the expectation that the cooperation between Montenegro and the UK will continue to develop and strengthen with the arrival of the new diplomatic representative, to the benefit and satisfaction of both parties.
