More than 884,5 thousand euros have been allocated from public sources for financing the campaign for the election of the President of Montenegro, the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (ASK) said.

The ASK stated in their report that, during the election campaign, the financing and media representation of all candidates was controlled, that is, seven election accounts were opened.

"For the purposes of financing the election campaign, a total of EUR 884.549 was allocated from public sources. In accordance with the submitted reports, the following data were reported: EUR 232.810 from contributions from natural persons, EUR 227.594 from contributions from legal entities, and EUR 40 from loans," the report says.

As it is added, the total costs shown in the reports amounted to 2.135.864 euros.

ASK said that they insisted on transparency in the use of public resources.

"Thus, the authorities, obligees of the Law, fulfilled the obligations prescribed by the Law, while the Agency carried out a field control and immediate inspection of the documentation of the authorities, as well as carried out a control of compliance with the Law through the statements of responsible persons in the authorities," said the ASK.

They stated that a total of 19.492 reports of authorities were published in accordance with the law, while a total of 453 reprimands were sent, mostly due to non-submission or non-publication of reports within the prescribed period or in the prescribed manner.

"A total of 183 procedures related to irregularities and suspected violations of the Law were carried out," said KAS.

As they stated, during the election campaign there were 99 submitted complaints from the interested public, civil sector or citizens.
