"I think we have convinced the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, that we have the majority for the mandate, but also for the formation of the government".

This was announced today by Milojko Spajić, the leader of the Europe Now Movement (PES), after consulting with Milatović about the mandate.

Today, Milatović started consultations on the selection of a mandate for the composition of the government with a meeting with Spajić.

Apart from Spajić, the meeting was attended by member of the PES Presidency Boris Pejović, MP from the list of that movement Seid Hadžić and MP from the list of PES and member of the Alternative Jelena Nedović.

Spajić did not want to answer the journalist's question about who makes up that majority and how big it is, saying that he should not talk about it now. Asked if he expects to have the support of forty-one MPs, which is necessary for the election of the government, Spajić answered in the affirmative.

"We are convinced that we have a majority for the mandate, and that after that we will also have a majority to form the government... The task of the mandate is to seek a majority of 41, that is, the active participation of forty-one deputies. We have seen that a majority government, not a minority, something that is an optimal scenario. In order not to repeat the mistakes of our predecessors, we think that we should strive for a majority government and a government that would thus have stable support in the parliament," he told reporters in Cetinje, after the meeting with Milatović.

Spajić said that he had informal talks with the representatives of the coalition For the Future of Montenegro (ZBCG), but that, as he claims, at the meetings "they primarily adhered to the principles of the future government and who should be the mandate holder".

"That phase is in question, and afterwards when someone gets a mandate - he would deal with how to implement the program principles through the departments," he added.

Speaking about the negotiations with the Bosniak Party (BS), Spajić said that these talks also concern the programmatic principles of the future government and who should be the mandate holder.

Milatović said last week that, although according to the Constitution, he has a deadline of 30 days to carry out consultations, he expects to complete them in the next 15 days.

"We need to get a stable and European government as soon as possible. I will do my part, and I think that there should be enough responsibility and seriousness on all sides of the political spectrum," said Milatović.

Once nominated, the mandate holder will have 90 days to form the cabinet.
