Holding a session of the local parliament, which is chaired by the President of the Municipal Assembly Nikola Jovanovic scheduled for August 15, after failing to secure a quorum from the councilors of the former Democratic Front in mid-July, is questionable.
Instead of calming the passions in this political alliance, which is led by the now detained Mayor Milo Božović who in the October local elections last year won an incredible 18 council mandates, one more mandate than the absolute majority, they are only getting deeper.
We remind you, four councilors Mladen Kažanegra, Kristina Rafailović, Filip Vujović i Milica Babić they canceled their vote of confidence in Jovanović, demanding that a vice-president of the Municipality be appointed until the mayor is released from custody, which would finally enable the normal work of the local administration, they were declared by some of their party colleagues as traitors, people who turned their backs on the party for the sake of personal and other interests and are trying to they cheat the will of the citizens. The narrative that was taken up by Jovanović and some of the councilors close to him immediately after the cancellation of the parliamentary session, comparing the actions of the four councilors who did not come to the session with the action of the former fugitive councilor of the Movement for Change Stevan Džaković which in the summer of 2020 caused a political upheaval by siding with the DPS, only deepened the gap and makes it impossible to reach an agreement.
And four councilors are expressly against the parliament passing the decision on the takeover of the Port of Budva as conceived, considering that it was written in cooperation with tycoons, without the knowledge of the councilors... Among their demands are that the directors of the company be appointed through tenders, i.e. that order be finally restored in the administration, and honor the promises they made to the citizens by winning the majority.
"We, the councilors of the winning coalition of the Democratic Front, which was led by the real one among us, President Milo Božović, and whom we consider innocent until proven otherwise, and we see no evidence other than media speculations against Milo Božović exist, also do not agree to be pawns in the hands of others, that the meetings of the SO Budva are scheduled secretly, that all the councilors are informed about it along the way, that the councilors are expected to just raise their hands while others conduct, because in that case the struggle and Golgotha of us and our families, which lasted as long as three decades would have been in vain, and we would actually be the same ones who, led by Božović, were beaten to the ground.
We were born in Budva and with our families we fight publicly and proudly against abuses, against robberies, for the right of everyone to be equal and free and for the Budva Municipal Assembly to be the only place for agreements and decisions, not basements, garages and terraces, under the auspices of night", is the opinion of the four councilors, which they do not give up.
And the agreement to hold the session in the past seven days was tried to be initiated by the leader of the Budva DNP (member of the former DF) Jovan Gregovic, who met with the aldermen.
He was then supposed to initiate a meeting with all representatives of the coalition and the remaining councilors of the former Front, which would be attended by party leaders, as well as Jovanović himself, but for now it has not been agreed.
There are still seven days left to reach any kind of consensus within the split Front, and while the political situation continues to boil, until then a thousand workers, both in the Municipality and companies, institutions and Radio Television Budva, who are on the budget, are waiting for the decision of the judge for the investigation of the High Court to bring the pay slips into the Spuška prison and allow Milo Božović to sign them. This is already the third time that workers are provided with salary payments in this way, bearing in mind that there is no authorized person in the Municipality of Budva who has the right to sign, since Božović did not appoint vice-presidents during his mandate, and he has the option of two, and he did not authorize anyone to instead he certifies the documents.
