The president of the Croatian Civic Initiative (HGI) Adrijan Vuksanović said that he is not ready to sacrifice the values of the Croatian people for the sake of a ministerial position, saying that his company is not those who "dispute the right of Croats to freedom and their own state".
"You don't get into power with those who, on the day when Srebrenica mothers bury their children, organize a concert in the same Srebrenica. With a clear conscience, I renounce such power and I don't need it," stated Vuksanović in an open letter.
He said that an "intense media and paramedia campaign" was being waged against him because of the congratulatory message he sent to Croatia on August 5 - the Day of Victory and Homeland Gratitude and the Day of Croatian Veterans.
"Until now, I have always congratulated all the national holidays of Montenegro and the Republic of Croatia. I will do so in the future, regardless of the insults and threats I receive," he stressed.
The war in Croatia, as he stated, did not begin with the "Storm", but ended with it.
"The storm is not a cause, but a consequence. Every war has innocent victims and that is one of its tragedies, and the biggest culprit is the one who started it. Slobodan Milosevic's policy, which is living its spring in Montenegro, brought a huge number of victims from Slovenia, of Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo. It set back Serbia itself and its people the most. The Croatian army did not bomb Kruševac, Čačak or Belgrade, it did not cross the Serbian border, but the other way around. The citizens of the Republic of Serbia sent off the tanks of the so-called JNA with flowers in their conquests internationally recognized Republic of Croatia After four years of expelling, killing and harassing the non-Serb population in the area of the so-called Krajina and after the Serbian leadership rejected all peace offers (including the freak plan Z-4), Croatia had a natural, legitimate and legal right to liberate its territory and bring freedom to its citizens.The 10.000 Serbs who defended their homeland Croatia against the aggressors from Belgrade deserve every respect. The success of the Storm military operation prevented another Srebrenica and another genocide from happening in the protected zone of Bihać," the president of HGI points out.
He believes that certain politicians in Montenegro have a "duplicitous attitude" towards Croatia.
"These days, when Croatia is celebrating its liberation from the Great Serbian aggression, we see the duplicitous attitude of certain politicians from Montenegro towards the Republic of Croatia. In official meetings, they gladly express their gratitude to Croatia for its more than partner behavior and exceptional help in the integration process towards the European Union, they emphasize that they want to build the best neighbors relations, and they challenge her right to defend her people and territorial integrity, calling liberation a crime," he added.
As he said, this does not contribute to the strengthening of interstate relations, but rather "demonstrates hypocrisy and insincerity".
Vuksanović said that the Croatian people understand Montenegro well, because today, he says, it is facing the politics that Croatia faced in the nineties of the last century. "HGI remains faithful to its national identity and its Montenegro. These are categories that are not negotiable," concludes Vuksanović.
